your best youth players to maximize training them for first team experience? That is the question I am asking and answering, today.
Here is the back drop for it. Killzone has commented (very wisely, I believe) that it is best, when possible, to send players to teams in the top divisions (even your own) in order to maximize their experience. Formerly, I used to just accept every stinkin' offer if I wanted to loan a player out. Now, I sift thru them (not all day!) and primarily focus on teams in first divisions.
So, I agree, but with a modification.
The reason is that I noticed that some of my players were playing for Reading's freakin' reserve team and one was on a Second Reserve squad! They could easily stay and play on MUFC Reserves. We have better facilities and coaching (and nicer kits ).
So, what I have done is that I still reject a lot of EPL, SPL, Serie A, etc. offers unless they say "He will be a valuable member of the first team." I really do not need to send a player to a top flight team to "act as cover." That, to me, is code for reserve team nonsense.
So, if I cannot find an appropriate first team suitor, I look for teams like Forest that have excellent training facilities that take my players and make them starters. There are even some teams that are in the 1st Division that have great facilities worth sending a player to.
Example: One player I sent to Forest is playing everyday and is their Captain at age 19! He has steadily improved and they are winning quite a few games.
I have definitely noticed an uptick in a lot of these players that are playing every game for the likes of Rangers, Hearts, Zaragoza, Reading, Forest and Cardiff.
Thanks to Killzone for yet another great thought. I hope this might provide some helpful insight to some players and open up yet another great aspect of this game for you. I would suggest that it can be considered at every level, but obviously it is most useful with a team that has a glut of good, young players that are still developing.
The same as you used to I normally just accept pretty much every offer made but after reading this I think that I might put some more though into where to send my players on loan. It seems as if there can be alot of positives made if you choose the right club to send your players to.
One thing I also take into consideration is, if offers allow, send him to one of the better sides in that division.
I've tended to notice that the biggest improvements are in players playing for teams at the top of their leagues. I know this isn't always possible but if you get two offers which both have good enough facilities I tend to lean towards the promotion winning side.
Also try and get some feeder clubs in top divisions around Europe with nice facilities as you can depend on them providing first team football and good standard of football.
