Can anyone explain how co-owned players work.

I'm Juventus and the only option I have is to buy the other half.

Can I not just sell my half?

And why does it say co-owned until 30.07.2009 for example yet their contract doesn't expire until 30.07.2010?

Basically at a specific date, which would be 30.07.2009 for you, both clubs have to make a bid for the player and the highest bid wins. I presume you don't want the player, so you would bid £0. However, the other club may also bid £0, in which case he will stay with you and no longer be co-owned. If you're lucky, the other club will bid for your share of the player.
