I have Purse, Loovens, Johnson, Kalla and Nortveit on loan and only Nordtveit is regularly perfroming well for me. I need a centre back to partner him who is good enough to push me to the Premiership.

I have over 2 million to spend and tried getting Stefan Mardare from Steaua but he wasn't interested. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm quite happy to spend my whole budget if it emables me to keep a few clean sheets, i'm leaking goals and it's because of Purse/Loovens/Johnson's individual mistakes and lack of pace, they're all playing terrible for me and i've just agreed to sell Purse to Hull for 1 million!

Cristian Sarghi, a Romanian (forget which team he starts at) is pretty good if he hasn't been snapped up already.

Brian McLean from Motherwell and Zander Diamond from Aberdeen are also pretty cheap and good. Also Jonathan McKain from Poli 1921 and Peter Máté from Debrecen (I think) have done the job for me in the past.

Thanks for the responses! Every defender mentioned looks quality and I put in bids to sign them all. So far I have signed:

Jonathan McKain - 875k
Brian McLean - 400k
Cristian Sarghi - 220k

These players are young and will only get better and I thank you for finding them for me. Can't wait till January comes so I can see them in action!

I've also signed Marek Suchy for 550k but i'm going to play him as a defensive midfielder. All I need now is a good left back and I will be very happy with my defence!
