I personally do do that oratowski, only starting a new one if (A) the save buggars up, or (B) I basically do that badly that noone wants to employ me.

It helps that I normally get it at Christmas ie AFTER the main patch, so no need to restart because of that. One save of hopefully 30 seasons where you make plenty of mistakes but learn from them and still make it to the top (well maybe not the top but damn close) can be immensely satisfying, and in an ideal world I like to spend the whole career at one team , seeing how far it has changed from that first season as a small N/S conference team to a Premiership team.

Certainly not, it depends on a lot of things.

I generally give up on the first save when the patch comes out. Sometimes I give up on that when I un-ininstall the patch and go back to the "better" out of the box version.

Occasionally I get terminally fed up after either too much failure or too much success and start a new save. I rarely have more than 3 or 4 saves per FM version though.

In Cm01/02 I've had countless savegames, quite a few of which were more than 20 seasons long. As the game became slower and more complex the number of savegames and seasons done were severely reduced.

That said, there's no rule about it. If you feel like starting over, then do so. It's your game, play it as you like.

In my 2006 save I passed retirement age, so mothballed that one.

Career, yes. I usually start up the game with a random team to get a feel for the interface, and play a month or two until the first patch comes out, then start a new career and stick with it until the next game comes out.

This isn't just my habit since I've been playing the LLM way - it's pretty much what I've always done.

Fewest was about 10 in '06, although this was one instance where I did have two separate careers, as I 'converted' to LLM early in my first save and wanted to restart. I've had a few 30 year+ careers in my FM/CM playing time, especially on earlier versions.
