Default 3rd Time Lucky

2006/07 Alfreton Conference North

After losing our first 4 matches it was starting to look like the media pundits were spot on
when they predicted a 17th finish for us however I was determined to changed that all around.
I then start to sign a few free signings that our scout had finally manage to suss out and then
I gave all my key players full time contracts. Everything started to turn around and we go on to
a few winning streaks and find ourselves up in the play off spots for most of the second half of the
season finishing 2nd, just 4 points behind the league winners Kettering.

We were up against Harrogate in the semi finals at home for the first leg winning it 2-1 and 1-0 in the
return leg. The final was a nail biter against Hinckley whom we have never beaten before in our past
meetings and it was 0-0 on 90 min. Deep into extra-time on 113 min we have an attacking throw-in, the ball
goes into play and then gets crossed into the penalty box by my left midfielder who was injured with a
broken leg for 6 months, the crossed ball was then met by my other right attacking midfielder and he
shot the ball in the top left corner! GOAL! We won the final 1-0 and we gain promotion suprising alot of
people, especially me!

Media Prediction: 17th
Final Position: 2nd and Promotion
Conference Nth Winners: Kettering
FA Cup: 2nd Qual. Rnd - 0-1 Kidsgrove (embarrasing)
FA Trophy: 3rd Qual. Rnd - 1-2 Leigh RMI
End of Season Bank Balance: -3.48k
Avg Att: 857
Transfers In: 10
Transfers Out: 0

2008/09 Alfreton Conference National

This season we only had 6 players come in, the players we've signed from previous seasons are
developing into better players and our team have gelled well together and have a deep understanding of eachother.
We had a very good season finished 2nd but missing out on promotion due to a very dissapointing loss in the
playoff semi finals.

Next year we'll definately clinch promotion I promise!

Final Position: 2nd 89 pts
League winners: Barnet 93 pts
Cups: Not worth mentioning

2007/08 Alfreton Conference National

After the media had predicted us to go straight back down I then go sign an entire new team
and got rid of some rubbish players. In the first half of the season we did really well staying
in the top half of the table and a few times we occupied on of the playoff spots, in the last 15 games
of the season we hit a brick wall and lost 10 which effectively put us out of reach of a playoff spot in 11th place.

We had a great season overall considering we had just got promoted from the previous season and
we hope to build from this and gain promotion next time.

Media Prediction: Dead Last
Final Position: 11th
Conference Nth Winners: Rochdale
FA Cup: 2nd Rnd - 1-2 Carlisle
FA Trophy: 4th Rnd - 0-1 Scarborough
End of Season Bank Balance: -46.74k
Avg Att: 1945
Transfers In: 15
Transfers Out: 13

2009/10 Alfreton Conference National

We bring another 5 players in to strengthen our side further, all very promising youngsters hoping to
win promotion this time round. We don't have the best of starts and we stay in the top half of the table
for the first half of the season but after my top scorer from previous seasons starts to fire up and bagged 35 goals and
we end up 2nd again only by 2 damn points. We have Oxford for the playoff semis, argh we lose 1-2 away
and then we ****innnnnnnnggggggggggggg lose at home 1-3 FFS *SWEAR WORDS* I slam the team kicking a shoe at
one of the players and forever scarring his eyebrow.

Final Position: 2nd 83pts
League winners: Dag & Red 85pts
FA Cup: 3rd rnd
FA Trophy: 4th Rnd
Avg Att: 1583
Bank Balance: -447k

2010/11 Alfreton Conference National

We are making a tradition out of bad starts and lose our first 2 games of the season away however once we won our first home game it all started to pick up and it picked up alright, we sat in top spot for most of the season and on the last game of the season we needed a win to ensure promotion as we were only 1pt in front of Weymouth.

We lost 0-1 away to Aldershot but fortunately Weymouth drawed with Carshalton which means we were crowned Champions on goal difference, we had +38 and they had +26.

It was a long time coming but in the end it was all worth it and I hope next season will even be a better one.

Final Position: 1st 87pts
League Winners: Us!
Bank Balance: -454k (It would have been more if it wasn't for the boards cash injections!)
Avg att: 1426
Players in: 7 Out: 13

2011/12 Alfreton League 2
I had hoped for a better season this year and a better season we got. We even broke our curse of losing our first games of the season by drawing our first 2 but then losing the next however we then went on an incredible run that lead us to top spot and we sat there for most of the season.

I felt the team had enough quality and so we only made 2 transfers which was only in the January transfer window, one of those was an under 23 Australian international.

Our team had incredible spirit and collectiveness and with this we won the league title! This makes it 2 titles in a row, we'll we be able to make it a 3pete next season? I think so!

Final Position: 1st 83pts
League Winners: us!
Bank Balance: -24.11k
Avg Att: 4122
Transfers In: 2 Out: 5
FA Cup: 3rd Rnd
League Cup: 1st Rnd
JPT: 1st Rnd
