| I don't agree. There's never been a Conference Regional club that's got into the Champions' League, so I would say that a realistic timescale is "never". The beauty is that although we are playing a game that imitates reality, it is always possible to do something that's never happened in real life before.
But not in ten seasons without doing some decidedly unrealistic practice, if you ask me.
And you're forgetting that Wigan and Fulham both have chairmen who fritter money away on their teams. The only non-league team who've tried anything similar were Rushden, and they got as far as League One.

It's a lot harder this year to go through the divisions, and I love that about the game. It's the road up there that is fun. When you get there it's just a matter of time before you get sick and tired of it. Then it is time to move.
Good luck in your endeavours (sp?), and please refrain from using GPG and TTT. It's a given if you want to keep posting in here, but also for your own enjoyment of the game. It's just not fun to be handed everything. Then it's basically just a "click continue"-excercise.
| What I was trying say in my pigeon typing is that Sir jock starting coaching in Scotland, Aberdeen I think in 1974.So he started his coaching 20years before he won the big bikkies

What about winning the Cup Winners' Cup and The European Super Cup with Aberdeen in 1983?

Even Austrian teams made it into the Cup Winners' Cup Finals, so the quality of the competition must have been laughable. |

Laughable, indeed.
Sir Eck started at East Stirlingshire, went to St Mirren and then on to Aberdeen...a true LLaMa

Ferguson also has the advantage of being an ex proffessional footballer. That should take a couple of years away from the time needed.

The competition wasn't as hard as in today's Champions League (featuring many non-champions), but it was still quite an achievement.
The point though, is that most managers don't win big trophies in their first years. Especially the ones without an international career behind them, which lands them jobs in high-profile clubs (Barca-dude etc). The great majority must start much further down the ladder, which leads us to why this forum exists.
