I once accidentally signed an aging player/ass man to an ass man contract whilst he was in the reserves. From then on he was listed as the Reserve Squad ass man under the 'staff' window and when asked for a team report would bang on about how the team needs to be strengthened if they are to avoid relegation from Reserve Group 7.

His contract was terminiated a week later.

That depends on what country he's in. In Spain and Germany, for instance, reserves/B teams play in the leagues.

I just experienced the exact same thing as the OP. Except I noticed the Assman was giving me his best side for a formation I don't use. It turns out he was using the reserves formation. Why? Apparently he was the "reserves" Assman (I only have one of course). The solution "move to > senior squad" just like a player.
