Ok, I decided to take part in dafuges challenge, so I thought I post updates here aswell. 22nd January 2007
I started the first season now. Things are looking good Signed some experienced players on a free and a new Assman. First game of the season we won 2-0 against Eastbourne borough. A winger who was already at the team playing brilliantly, getting 2 assists and bagging man of the match. None of my players want to sign full-time My team is part-time so they seem to get tired quicker.
Second match we travel to Basingstoke, expected to lose, but with a great show of attacking football manage to win 4-1! Magnificent .
Third game wasn't so fun, we travelled to Welling without my key-man who had flu. At half time it was 0-0, neither team was playing well so I thought I'd risk playing 4-3-3 for a bit. Bad Idea, after just 15 minutes from half-time I was 2-0 down I reverted back to my original tactics but morale was down and Welling scored 2 more. Final score 4-0 to Welling.
In my next match against Salisbury I start a new striking partner ship, prooves to be a success, with attack the best defence winning 4-3 in a really close game. This puts us into the play-offs (I know it's the start of the season, but still I'm happy )
The last game I played yesterday was brilliant. my winger was back to full fitness and we dominated. Despite going in at half time 2-0 down, we came out all out attack and won the match 4-3. The game was closer than it should have been but my striker bagged a hat-trick to put him on 5 goals in 4 games.
25th January 2007
After a great run a form at the start of the season we were 5th after 11 games, with my striker scoring 9 so far. The next run of games started to go bad, we lost to lower league team in the FA Cup after a replay and then lost to Newport 3-2, despite being 2-0 after 80 minutes . We won the next game at Salisbury 2-1, but it should have been more comfortable. The next game showed the major defensive problems at my team, we were 3-0 down at half time in the FA Trophy, a great performance from my 2nd striker scoring 3, but then one more goal each left it at 4-4. The replay we lost 1-0.
Next we travelled to botom of the table, this would be our last clean sheet for 12 games. 3-0 win, but then 6 games without a win conceding 15 goals! I decided enough was enough and signed a new 17 year old keeper that my scout had recommended. Despite winning 3-2 he didn't perform well, but I kept faith and in my last 2 games he has been brilliant (despite conceding 5 goals!). My striker and winger have kept me in a respectable 12th place bagging 20 goals in 24 games and 13 assists respectively.
Now, tonight when I get home I need to sort out my defence tactics and keep a clean sheet! I'm only 9 points away from the play-offs and if my defence improves should be no problems!
