i have just finished my fourth season with alfreton and have managed promotion to league2, after winning the conference with 97 points. I was hoping to get 100 points, but used my 2nd string / young players once promotion was secured.
I got to the fourth round of the FA cup last season, but was beaten 2 -1 by Fulham away from home. I have just been beaten on penalties in the leagu cup by cardiff (away). This match was particularly frustrating because i was serving a touchline ban and so could not make any changes, or select my penalty takers.
Alfreton turned professional at start of this season, although I had the majority of players on full time contracts already.
my first home game of this season brought a record £45k gate receipt, with 3500 in attendance. Hopefully this means this season will be quite lucrative.
the board has given me a transfer budget of £130k this year. This seemed a bit tight becuase there's £900k in the bank. My attempts to get them to part with more do not go down very well. At January I will try again.
I set my nationality to brazil, with a secondary nationality of Azeri. I am finding it hard to sign players from azerbaijan though - there's only about two in the game though. is there any way to increase the number of azeri players? I can only scout within the uk at the moment.
I have the players set to random names. This is quite funny sometimes because the game allocates british names to players from all over the world, e.g. iraq.
i like using random players because i don't like my prior knowledge of players to cloud my judgement. admittedly i don't know any players in the lower leagues anyway, but hopefully i will climb to higher leagues.
also i like the more random names. I like to search for players with my name (alexis) and sign them.
By the time you get to the higher leagues it would probably have all changed anyway, and a lot of the known players would be retired or at the end of their careers, but fair enough.
