Apparently, he told his wife he was going to Barcelona for a few days on business, when he was actually going to be shacked up in some Soho hotel with a flamenco dancer
Then to cover his tracks, he asked a colleague who really was going to Barcelona on business to post a pre-written postcard while he was there. The only thing his colleague had to do was buy a Spanish stamp, stick it on the postcard and post it.
Simple enough you'd think ... except this chap ends up buying an English stamp and posting the from card from whichever airport he was flying from to get to Barcelona.
Card arrives back before husband bearing English stamp and English postcard ... cue one very angry wife on Mr. Subbuteo's return from London
The only thing it doesn't say in the book is what happened to the chap who posted the card. Has anybody ever seen a lifesize Subbuteo figure
