I just started playing WSM2007 a couple of weeks ago. Although I like the LLM style, I've already messed up my current game with Forest Green Rovers from an LLM perspective (got a parent club, used the search screen for staff, FGR might not be LLM enough).
Anyway, I'm already planning my next game, and I was wondering about the player recommendation feature. Is it ok to use? Or is it unbalancing? I got a good DC from a recommendation in my current game, but I may just have gotten lucky...
Also, is it tipping to ask how the youth grant money is determined in England? It seems like the money I get varies over the course of the season...
I wouldn't call it "messed up" - there's no need to abandon your savegame, you can still adopt your new ways now.
Anyway, as for the player recommendation: do what you think is realistic. Is it realistic if a manager asks a key player about this? I think so. Is it realistic if he does it every other week? I don't think so.
The youth grant money seems to be a fixed value per youth player. More youth players, more grant.
You can always cancel the parent club deal at the end of the season. This feature can happen outwith your control (the board deciding they know best. Grrr!!).
It would have been better to have had the option to disable this parent-feeder thing.
What about player recommendations for staff? I know there can be some slim pickings from the job board...
I'm just about winding up my first FGR season now (getting ready for the FA trophy, luring unsuspecting clubs for summer friendlies, etc.)... once I get three in the bag maybe I'll post an update, if no one would be upset about the start of the game not being strictly LLM.
