Yes, i'm another manager of Yeading. (4 games into 06/07 with 3 draws + a win) but i'm sure we'll collapse like a flan in a cupboard.
But i Digress. I've noticed a lot of us LLM's are managing The Ding so i decided to trawl through the rankest depths of the internet to find more information on the beloved club:
Yeading can trace it's roots back to 1960 where a youth club was formed.
Yeading became known as Yeading FC in 1965, but it was only until 1980 they were granted semi-pro status and moved to the Isthmian League (which the football league split in 2004 into conference north + south.
Yeading won the coveted FA Vase in 1990!
A strong start to the season was crowned on December 5, 2004 with their being drawn at home to Premiership side Newcastle United in the third round of the FA Cup, after beating Brentford F.C. in a 'Wild' West London derby. Yeading's average league game attendance of 137 contrasted with Newcastle's nearly 52,000. After some confusion as to whether the game could be played in front of 2,300 at Yeading's ground, The Warren, it was decided to play it on January 9, 2005 at Loftus Road, and the crowd numbered 10,824. A scoreless first half held out hope of a legendary upset but two second-half Newcastle goals decided the game.
And speaking of Yeading's ground (The Warren), it was used in the film Bend It Like Beckham as the home ground of the fictional Hounslow Harriers.
So there you go. Keira Knightley graced yeading fc wearing a pair of shorts. delightful
Reading an older post by another Yeading Manager (He managed to get up to the dizzying heights of Championship League) It turns out that The Warren doesn't get expanded.
So no matter how successful I get, I'm going to be stuck with a 3,500 capacity stadium??!!
Anyone else with the same trouble???
So is this supposed to be an update then? Heard about the 3-season rule yet?
In this version grounds are supposed to be extended if you are successful enough. If the city council still keeps blocking you, I think there is a possibility of the board deciding to build a new stadium. Apparently it's happened to some, but it obviously ain't cheap.
Apoligies Pangaea. I <STRIKE>do</STRIKE> know about the 3 season rule and this topic wasn't supposed to be an update. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks for putting my mind at rest about the stadium. I don't think I could bear to play 15 or so seasons only to discover The Warren will stay comparable in size to a actual rabbit warren.
