FM 07 LLM "Approved" Contract Negotiations Question
Being a new LLaMa, I've read a lot of posts. As a result, I know that the regular LLaMa's have very strict policies regarding what is proper LLM protocol.
So, if this is on topic and within posting protocols, please keep this thread open for a bit Mods. If not, close it quick so others get more time for playing.
My question is: When I'm negotiating a contract for a player, is it acceptable LLM protocol to offer more for a player than what my board recommends? For example, I've got a player who has become a very nice player for me. However, This player is asking for a contract that is just beyond what my board recommends paying for a player with his title (key player). I really want to keep him.
Can I offer him what he wants to entice him to stay with me?

You're the manager and the board allow some leeway in the amount you offer a player (i.e. you can raise it above the 'recommended' amount). They will set limits, but within that, it's your call.

I try to keep a strict wage-structure so I won't destroy the club financially in case we go down. But if for some strange reason quality wants to join, I'll gladly offer more than the board recommends to get them.
The board set the limits for you, so you're free to operate within those limits. If they allow you to cross the limits, it's their problem really.

It's pretty rare that I'll offer a player more than the board wants, but that's because I'm tight. However like some others have said, if I have the occasion to, then I will, because it's my decision.
