Hi all, I’m a relative newcomer to these forums, the principle of LLM and if truth be told; the CM/FM brand - a seven season career on FM06 the only experience I’ve got to fall back on.
Frank decided that Steigen SK would be my starting point; a semi-professional outfit expecting to finish 11th out of 14 in the third tier of Norwegian football. Transfer funds were non-existent and the club was worth just £45k. Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Finnish leagues loaded.
Season One: Ins: 8 (£0k) Outs: 0 Season One: Ins: 8 (£0k) Outs: 0
After a poor start we soon flew up the table, thanks in no small part to the performances of my inspirational captain (picked up on a free). We hovered around 3rd for much of the season, well off the pace, before claiming the title on the final day - topping the table for the first time all season. 4-1 and 6-3 victories standing out.
The Good: My captain; scorer of 18 goals.
The Bad: Going out 3-0 in the first round of the suck arse cup.
Season Two: Ins: 10 (£0k) Outs: 0
Still semi-professional. Still without a penny to spend.
With four teams getting relegated, 12th was very much my target. Two opening victories brought only false hope, being followed by a winless run of 10 which saw me within a point of relegation. Mid table obscurity always looked likely after a subsequent recovery of form, and the season ended positively with the team picking up six successive wins.
The Good: A cup run to the quarter finals; giving assured performances against Viking and Lillestrom of the Premier Division.
The Bad: My captain missing large periods of the season due to injury.
Season Three: Ins: 10 (£45k) Outs: 0
Still semi-professional. Though I now had some money to play with.
My new left winger, signed for a massive £20k, played all thirty league matches of the season, assisting ten times along the way.
The three teams relegated from the Premier Division were the early pace setters but I managed to keep up with them as the other teams fell behind. The play off position which third place gave was my target though the sudden lack of form of favourites Fredrikstad (five defeats in 30, four in their final six) let me in for the automatic position of second.
The Good: An injury-free season for my captain, bringing 16 goals.
The Bad: A return to being distinctly ordinary in the suck arse cup.
