Anyone else found that there is a severe lack of transfer activity in the game?
This happened with FM06. I'm in 2012 and Man ?Utd have bought a whopping 4 players in 2 years. They have exactly the same starting 11 as they do now with the exception of a new gk cuz Van Der Sar retired. Cheslea are the same with 7 of the current starting 11 since in there. Villa the same, Arsenal the same - every team has a very similar squad to know with no good youngsters on the horizon for them...
It boils down to teams playing players who are well into their 30's all the time with no young back-ups..It is probably an issue with a lack of good youngsters coming into the game...
similar situation here, ive had a few save games with newcastle and whilst im chopping and changing with relative success the likes of united, chelsea and arsenal remain almost identical to their current teams 5 or 6 years into the future. This is most shocking with Arsenal as in one of the saves Wenger remained manager and as everyone knows he kicks most players out once they get to 30, but not in game it would seem. Similarly with chelsea being the fatcats they are youd think they might want to spend a bit of their cash but in the 5 seasons after the first theyve bought only 7 players in my most recent game.
The quality of regens coming through does seem to be below the standard of the real players but it may take time for this to truly become apparent.
The thing that really dissapoints me about the AI transfer policy is that unlike me they never seem to go after young players (ie. you rarely if see the likes of arsenal snapping up saivet, dalla valle, breno, etc when theyre very young like they did with fabregas). Therefor it makes the game very easy for the human player (albeit only if you manager in one of the top leagues) once you know who to sign.
In United's case they don't really need to buy many more players in the short/medium-term. Foster to replace VDS, Simpson to replace Neville (hopefully), Anderson for Scholes and Nani for Giggs. Ferdinand is the next oldest IIRC, so in goes Pique or possibly Jonny Evans.
Maybe a higher-quality replacement for one or more of those if the young 'uns don't cut it, and certainly I'd buy in a new striker to replace Sicknote Saha, although Fraizer Campbell can do a job.
Really, 4 players is plenty. The same goes for Arsenal with their never-ending conveyor belt of unfeasibly good French/African teenagers.

Fair point but they sold both Pique and Foster.
It's not about 4 players being plenty, it's more about the fact that it's not realistic that there is such little activity by the AI and that they don't go for youngsters. This was a MASSIVE problem in FM06 which SI acknowledged and it seems that this problem has returned.
