Plus numberous other smartarse comments (and you accuse me of it when I direct your own back to you!) such as in this thread or this one.

Do you seriously believe that these kind of posts are (a) acceptable and (b) welcome? You are capable of making good posts with valid points but you continually undermine yourself with comments like these.

I thought you are not meant to pay dividends as you like. Dividends must be paid from profits. Please read your law books now . Under commonwealth countries, statute says you must pays dividends out of profits.

Well here's the thing, all companies can pay out dividends be it private or public. Private companies are normally controlled and owned by the same people. In public companies ownership and management are separate (well most of the time).

hehe

BJC123 has a good point. Players are assets. Assets must meet the definition criteria of assets. 1) future economic benefits, 2) future benefits must be controlled by the entity, 3)the future economic benefits must be currently controlled by the entity because of past event/transaction.

The thing that puzzles me is whether players have future economic benefits. Do future economic benefits come in the form of prize money? If so the recognition criteria cannot satisfy it as I remember that there must be a probability of 75% that future economic benefits must flow towards the entity. Football is like a game of dice, you never know when you win or lose; the best team can lose.

Or does it come from shirt sales? I wonder what happens if the player is so shitty that no one wants to purchase his shirts?

I'm still waiting for the day when dividend payment in Germany wouldn't take place. In German almost all clubs are sort of "non-profit" organization where ownership belongs to club itself and ALL profits can be spent for clubs purposes only.

So what exactly is the benefits being a shareholder? Just voting/say in the club? It's kind of good that it remains that way.

They aren't shareholders. You can pay a registration/membership fee and you're eligible to vote for board members every year. No financial benefict, just a feeling that you're a member of a club.

Money in the bank is profit from a previous year.
