The FML team consists of Ov Collyer (who hasn't worked on FM for years) and a very small team who were hired specifically for it.
The FM team is bigger than it's ever been.
The only "impact" is that some facets of FM can be tested on FML, so actually increasing testing capacity.
It really irritates when people spout uninformed garbage as though they know something about it.

While I wish nothing but the best success for FM, I do hope that the CM people continue to improve their title. The added pressure should result in a better product for everyone concerned. Thankfully FM isn't in the position EA Sports is in, who when their Madden franchise was faced with improving or losing market share to the excellent NFL 2K series, paid $300 million to the NFL to get an exclusive license.

Front Page Sports: Football Pro 99
(American football, that is)
Absolutely the worst out-of-the-box sports game ever. And rather than patch it, Sierra just dropped the series and offered customers a T-shirt.[/QUOTE]
I bought that game also. you are being kind to sierra by the way you described it
Really what the did was keep people hanging on for months with promises of fixes,Tshirts, and the promise of updating the game to next years version free. Then out of the blue closed down the whole sporting game department for good.

Funny you guys mentioned Front Page Sports: Football Pro.
I've been thinking recently that SI could do a great version of this game. The big two holes they'd need to fill are a visual engine (although I think something like the FM 2d pitch might actually fly) and creating an American Football logic engine for each play.
They could pretty easily adapt from FM for news engine, team, players, etc. etc. Just change around the stat categories and player rating categories and away you go.
99 was terrible but previously versions, 97-98 particularly, were fantastic - especially online leagues.

| Meanwhile, it appears to me that there are hundreds of customers posting on these forums and indicating that the results for FM are worse than ever. Unless SI starts showing better quality with its FM releases and patches, then I'm afraid that the increased testing capacity will continue to sound like a lot of nonsense. Saying things like this will only enrage people when the end result is an FM product that was essentially a piece of beta software.
I still say it would be better if SI made nothing other than FM and wasn't part of Sega. Even if it meant fewer resources, I would have much greater faith in the future of FM. QA and overall happiness with the product seemed far better when SI was a small company and only making CM.

Until SI and Sega buyout EA and the FIFA license, as well as Championship Manager, the Football Management Genre is as far from an Monopoly as you can get.
