and FM is lucky, unlike Fifa.

Fifa has bitter rivals who calls themselves WE Pro Evo Soccer which is winning more and more football gamers.

As for FM, its too big to be compared to other management games. So.. sales wont be affected. Its a to-die-for kinda thing to get FM-any-series.
good response. SI has monopolised the market to the point where there is no other choice of any value to consider. </BLOCKQUOTE>

The reason they have "monopolised" the market as you put it, is that they are the best! Unless SI were the best they wouldn't have been able to monopolise it! Also interesting to hear Fifa mentioned. How many patches do EA release to their games? One? Maybe two if lucky? The last Fifa I bought had more bugs than the I'm A Celebrity jungle. No patches were released except one on the day of release. The patch will come out when SI are happy with it.
I do wish you people would realise a good thing when you see it! Here we have a company who are willing to work on patches for their games, who actually listen to what we are saying (just because they may not be posting on here at the moment doesn't mean they aren't reading the forum!)
Stop wingeing for gods sake. </BLOCKQUOTE>

christ...get over it. of course that is how their monopolised the market, by being good. how else can you do it in the gaming industry??? think before you speak and get off the 'fanboy' soap box

I have to say the FIFA never contains gamebreaking bugs on release (compared to at least 5 in fm08 this year), you never see a chaos in the EA forums asking for patches (which you see in the SI forums now). I own FIFA from FIFA 08 onwards and I have to say that their QA is 10x better than SI's.

neiluk - do you honestly think that SI are doing us a favour by releasing a patch?? they are savng their asses, if they didn't no one would buy fm09.

SI have patched every release of FM and most of the CM series (if not all) so 08 is no different in that respect.

There may be more complaints surrounding the release of 08 than it's immediate predecesors, but there was quite a bit of bruhaha surrounding the launch of 07 as well.

Calling FM08 a debacle is stretching it a mite thin. I can think of a lot worse "out of the box" releases for bugs etc. Ultima IX comes to mind. *shudder*

(American football, that is)

Absolutely the worst out-of-the-box sports game ever. And rather than patch it, Sierra just dropped the series and offered customers a T-shirt.

yes they have because no one would buy the next in the series. the patch was out within couple of days for 07 and it worked fine after that
