Apologies if this is in the wrong place, I've done a search and am now more confused than when I started, lots of people seem to have a problem using the adjust budgets option to increase transfer funds. My problem is the opposite can increase the transfer budget at the expense of wages.
BUT there are also tips available suggesting that if you max out your transfer budget by allocating all spare wages to transfer budget you'll then have the option of increasing wage budget... first off, you don't, it just has the same increase transfer budget option but only increase by 0 pounds. Continuing a week doesn't help.
It makes no sense because why wouldn't you have both options just available there?
I increased transfer budget to maximum, at which point the only option after clicking 'adjust budgets' available to me was again to increase the transfer budget but the only option available was zero pounds.
I then, as you suggested, asked for extra wages through board request increase wage budget and was advised that the board were getting increasingly annoyed at persistent requests. I then tried to adjust budgets again and all that was available was to increase the transfer budget by zero.
This makes sense as why would the board give you more wage money when you've just elected to reduce it in order to increase transfer funds? However, it doesn't answer my original question, nor does your method work.
I suspect that it's programmed in such a way that you may only increase the wage budget when you are approaching or exceeding it. Which in my opinion is illogical and restrictive (i.e. what if you want to try and sign quality bosmans? The board surely would increase your wage budget and reduce your transfer budget to allow you to attract players of a better quality)
The only time you seem to get the option to trade in transfer budget for an increase in wages is when your current wage bill is at or close to your wage budget.
The problem is if you manage the wage bill very well, no increase in transfer funds will reduce your wage budget enough in order for this option to appear. Effectively, if you've done a good job with keeping wages in check, the only way to get the option to increase wage budget is to offer your players more money so that you use up your excess wage budget.
"hey mr chairman, I know you didn't give me the option to increase my wage budget before when I was managing the wages brilliantly but I've just gone and given an extra 1,000 pounds a week to everyone and spent all my budget so can I have some more now?"
