HI
It depends what you are after in a footie management game.
Presumably you have tried the cm2008 demo. CM2008 is not as intense nor as deep re FM2008. Stay away from FIFA total manager 2008 or whatever it is called, try the demo and you will see why.
The players/buyers of FM tend to be more passionate and that is reflected in how the differing games are constructed. CM08 are trying to make a different type/version of a footie manager...again not so intense, in my opinion but a lot more fun....

I think CM is fun though it is a good sim rather than FM which is serious.
CM08 is better in a few areas; the player interaction is better/ as is the graphic depiction re the actual gameplay screen itself (e.g. matchday), in my opinion. It also has prozone which works well. transfers are on a par. However, the match engine is not as good nor is the overall feel of the game. Plus the peeps on the forum do not quite take themselves so seriously.
That said. if you want a deeper more satisfying game where you actual pull your hair out then FM is still number one, despite the lack of real new chunky add-ons in this particular incarnation.
As far the bugs still in FM well they are minor in the overall enjoyment of the game, it's just the 110% diehards that pick over everything the game offers that tend to find bugs in all aspects of the game e.g. "supa" goalies/shots missed/ corner issues..blah blah.
My original views on cm08 were as follows:
I am finding that this is definitely the best CM2008 I have played. FM is looking a little jaded this year and is really only an add-on rather than anything brand spanking new.
Having now played all three demos FIFA, FM & CM2008 I hope I can comment on CM objectively.
1. Like the interface; clean looking and no doubt there will be other skins.
2. Navigation seems good but I have got rid of side bar, rather a hindrance than a help.
3. PZ analysis very good after games and adds a lot, though the expert one rather more difficult to fathom but that will come with time.
4. Game pitch: I like the characters and the way they move get a good feel of movement of the ball and able to see tackles/fouls etc so much clearer.
5. Game play itself appears ok but there's an awful lot of throw-ins and as has been said too many stop/starts.
6. Team talk: some of the talk a bit glib for my liking and lacks any depth ...appear to be throw away statements, but early days.
7. Transfer looks to be fine.
Bottom line though is FM08 still leads regardless..it's the one that you keep going back to.
Hope this has helped and please FM peeps do not flame me.
