First of all, I please excuse me, I am not a very big fan of the sport otherwise I would probably know the answer to the question. My situation is, I am using the LA Galaxy and I made it to the Championship Game. Well lo and behold, there is some international event where 3 of my best players get called up to play for their country. I am wondering if this reflects real life. Would a player abandon their team for the Championship game of the season for international play? What screws me over, is the team I am playing against seems to have most if not all of their regulars.
To clarify the situation a little more, to make it sound more ridiculous, my player (Landon Donovan) left my team before the Championship game, to play for Team USA in a FRIENDLY match against Belgium. Two other players left as well to play for their clubs in friendly matches that for some reason all took place on the same day as the MLS Championship game.
