I would think that too but all coaches say he'll struggle to hold a place and the second one is better? What on earth? I'm blind or just dont get FM.

For me 2 key attributes for a defender are pace and positioning. From experience even in conference south positioning 5 and pace 5 centre half/full back will get exposed on a regular basis.

Plus the second guy is 18 and might have room to improve.

His heading is very low but his higher jumping makes it more likely he'll win the header although it might not go very far

if your team players are generally young,you must use first man.because young teams are less
successful than experienced teams.
if your team players have enough experiment,you must use second youngster.
and also if you use first man,you will have problems with the pace of your opponent's striker.

it also depends on your defensive line

Yeh I tried playin' Deep but I invite way to many people on to my goal. I lose a lot but I've found out you cant expect much with Falkirk. I'm 9th in league and morale is Superb so I guess the players think they do well

Second one is better because he has better positioning, anticipation, concentration, and jumping - key attributes for DC. Given that the first one has no pace at all, I would not even consider signing him for free. Plus, as isuckatfm said, he second one has room for improvement as he is 18. The first one is a joke.

But he's a great header,tackler, born captain and all of that... especially playing with a deep line then he's good aint he?
