Last Call For Help Before Retiring From The Game?.
After playing this game since its release(this version as well as every other), i find that in 07 i am just as clueless now as to the why and hows of the game as i was when i first installed it?.
Dont get me wrong, i've had my fair share of reasonable success, which at first glance seems like i had a foothold in the game, but looking back over almost the last year, it seems that this was more down to luck than judgement?.
I say this because i have had the odd season where i've challenged strongly for League Titles, Domestic Cups and in Europe, but on starting a new game with the same tactic/s, training, staff, players etc, i've hit the other side of the coin, in which i have struggled in every department for no apparent reason?.
I must have watched over a 1000 games in their entirety and i still dont understand the implementation of the sliders and the difference they make to the way my players act them out on the pitch?.
It's embarrasing for me to come clean like this, as i consider myself relatively intelligent and quick on the uptake, yet when playing 07 i feel like a virgin, on his first quest to discover woman flesh.
I have witnessed self proclaimed evidence of superior players, but have found this dubious to say the least, with no hard evidence to support their theories, when implementing them myself?.
I cannot for the life of me get defenders to sit deep, get keepers to do as they are told, or even get the selected player/s to take a throw in or free kick?. If i cannot get players to undertake these simple tasks, how on Earth am i supposed to get them playing football in a satisfactory manner?.
I would very much appreciate it if someone could share their mass of knowledge with me, enough to get the basics right, so that i can clearly see even the simplest of instructions played out on the pitch?.
If someone is on a different time zone?, i'm more than willing to get up in the early hours of the morning, so that we can both be on the Forum at the same time!. Believe me, once i've been shown how to do something AND seen it working, i WILL remember it and implement as and when nessasary into my game.
So, anyone out there willing to put their supposed knowledge of the game and FM name on the line to help out a fellow FM'er, or is it finally time for me to walk away?.

Who are you playing with? What tactic are you using and Are you having trouble at home, away or both?
Its not about ONE specific tactic or struggling home or away Dale, its more to do with how one minute(or season even), i can be flying high and winning games(believing it has something to do with said tactic), yet i can start the same game again using identical tactic, players, staff, training etc and have a totally opposite season, in which i struggle to get results?.
It does'nt seem to matter if i'm creating 20 chances a game and only allowing the opposition one or two, or creating nothing and allowing the opposition chance after chance, the outcome in both scenarios could be identical, or i can even find that playing poorly i can outperform my league standing when i dominate game after game after game?.
FrazT - Appreciate that mate, but i have read, re-read and read again, all posts by wwfan, as well as all the team talk threads and everything else you could mention, but there is simply nothing there to explain the randomness of what i see on the pitch when watching game after game?.

Maybe don't read so much into it and come up with your own way of playing the game?
Think of a playing style your like (IRL) amd try and mimic that style over a period of time.

I find that it takes a good few seasons for players and tactics to gel.
I usually play as West Ham mate and would be happy with top 6, which i have managed and even bettered many times.
The problem i have is that its more down to luck thean judgement.
Like i've said i can start an identical game, yet find that one season i am challenging for trophies, yet starting the game again, i may very well struggle?. I've even gone so far as to test this over 3 seasons and the complete randomness is plain to see time and time again.

Lifes too short to be 'annoyed' at a game.
IRL a lot of games are decided on luck, look at Arsenal as well, went through one season unbeaten, next season couldn't hit a barn door!
I was hoping that one of the "better" FM'ers amongst us could at least have a few examples that will provide more consistency, but i've come across none of that, after asking on many occasions?.
I have indeed put together my own tactics, i even named them specifically as the "realwestham" as its how i tried to implement our RL game to FM. Again on reflection, one saved game i would out perform expectation, yet an identical game would somehow see us struggle?.
Ask a lot of Gooners and they will tell you why Arsenal struggled last season, a lot of it is to do with them trying to "walk" everything into the back of the net.
