Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Getting to the bottom of the defensive line...

I would have thought that playing a deep defensive line (clicking left until the first deep) V's Push up (clicking right until the first Push up), would have been obvious from the opponents GK.

Check these out, I have learned that this isn't the case.

The pic on the left is deep def line, the pic on the right is push up.

Spot the diff!

I don't see what you're getting at. Both pictures are from the exact same second... players can't really move much in less than a second.

The pics are screen shots.

The screenshot on the left is with def line set to deep which I played all first half.

The second screenshot on the right is wih def line set to push up.

Both screen shots were taken when the opposition had a goal kick.

My point is you would expect the pic on the left to have a slightly deeper def line.

(it's not rocket science)

You might want to check out the experiment thread I started. I tested the defensive line extensively, and I can tell you with some certainty that the defensive line slider does not affect the defensive line — which is odd because that's it bloody label.

Oh, and I think you are wasting your time looking at goal-kicks, mate. Your tactical implementation does not come into affect until the ball is in open play. You need to check it out in-match. Try it. You'll see that the defensive line slider is 'broken' or it does something else that nobody knows about.

This is the conclusion I was coming to, I was going to try and post screen shots showing some kind of difference.

Cheers arteta is god, I'll have a read.

I wonder if def line does make a diff o the way your team plays but there is no actuall evidence in the AI game engine.

I have a theory that the game engine (i.e. what you see) only shows a certain level of what your tactics are doing. I think a % is not visable in the game engine....

just a theory...

lol, I know - this is why I am an arse. I have now lost my screenshot showing the 'push up' pic!

I'm an ar5e, forget it. I'll do a search on def line as this is one part of the game I am not clear about. :o
