It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Blocked crosses and defensive headers

2 of my main beefs with the game (after all this time) are as per title.

1) Blocked crosses. About 90% of my crosses are blocked if there is a defender in the vicinity of my winger. The winger never seems to try a cut back or to try and beat the man firest - he just kicks it into the defender time after time. This seems (ie I havent scientifically tested it but going on the basis of different tactics i have used...) to occur even on crossing 'sometimes' and a lesser attacking attribute. Does anyone have any theories on this.

2) Long Range 'Defensive Headers' that go out for a corner. This comes from a deep cross or even a clearence kick from the oppositon half, there may or may not be an attacker challenging my defender who is closer to the halfway line than the goallline, but he inexplicably heads the ball all the way back for a corner. WTF. Could this be a symptom of having your CB too defensive? Thing is my full backs do it too, and they are usually set to normal mentality. Anyone else have this happen/ know how to minimise it (it doesnt happen constantly, but often enough to be annoying - 2+ times per match)

1. Probably cause the dont have a high creativity and/or your give them a low Creative Freedom.

2. I think these are really high balls and defenders thinking there might be a player behind him and therefor just heading it anywhere (happens in real life)

if this is occuring, actualy telling your wingers from where to cross might be a good thing to try.

like, cross from deep, or byline

1. Also consider playing wider with qucker tempo. This gives less time to the DL/DR to cover your wingers.

And Sometimes it is just that the full back is very good and neutralizes the winger. then it is wise to try to overlap with your full back or simply reduce crossing to normal or rare so that he does not cross all the time so predictably.

2. I think this happens because either the defenders do not have the necessary skills to play the ball well (e.g. it is too high and they hit it with the tip of their head) or the targetman is too strong and they cannot get to the ball to head it well, or both. I noticed it usually happens when the striker that jumps for the ball is strong and jumps well... I have not thought of an idea how to fix this though...
