A Question of player morale V's manager interaction (global?)
I was wondering if someone could clear this up for me. (I did a search but nothing came up that I could see).
What attributes (hidden or other) make a player react to your interaction.
For example, If I have just told the media “I think I can win” for the next home game, one player may be overjoyed and have a superb morale, whereas his team-mate might get edgy.
I’m assuming that it is to do with the players mental stats, if so, which one(s)?
Is it feasible to have a first 11 with identical mental stats, in that if I tell the media “I think I can win!” then the entire team’s morale will be superb?
I originally though this was down to the players personality, but I now know this is not true, that brings me onto another point about what variable(s) the players personality actually influences?
I moved this from Player forum, as this might get a better response. Hope that's ok, if not....

I have no idea what causes one player to be happy with a media comment and another player to become upset/angry at the same comment.
This is why I long ago abandoned answering any of the media comments/speculation as it's usually a 50/50 split between happy and unhappy reactions, whatever you say. And the unhappy reactions seem to have more effect on my teams performances than the happy ones.

I have not connected personalities with team/media talk because I have not observed hidden attributes but I have noticed some things.
First, players react consistently to team talk and media talk. For instance, the same players will be happy when you say good things about other managers, as you "divert attention..." I just praised another manager and 2 guys reacted positively. One of them is fairly determined. I guess ambitious managers will be unhappy about it... Anyway, by trial and error you can see which team or media talks boost morale.
Second, it is always nice to have similar personalities in the team. This will make team and media talks more effective and will make players like each other more... That is why under your club Information you can see club personality at the bottom. If your team is determined it will be good to sign determined players(even though Ronaldinho is the best player for any club regardless of his personality if you ask me ). That is why in scout reports, you can read sometimes that a player can fit in your squad or that he needs to adapt to fit in...

First, players react consistently to team talk and media talk.
This is only true for certain types of player. The only thing that I have noticed in testing this was that the same players tend to respond but how they respond varies.
As an example I saved a game at the exact same point when I got the message about my expectations for the next match. From that point I made the same response and reloaded.
What I found was the same 5 players responded, 2 of them in the same way each time, and 3 of them had different responses at each reload. This test was one of the reasons I gave up responding to this question. One guy had his morale swing plus/minus 90 degrees e.g. I set his morale to okay (arrow to the right), made my response and his morale went to superb. Reloaded, made the same response and this time his morale changed from okay to very poor.
No variables could have changed to explain this variation in response. Also there were no visible attributes that linked the players that responded like this.
My advice is that if you find you have first teamers who have morale swings like this based on your media comments then just don't make any comments.
