Hi

I have tried everything to get my team to keep possesion and make a lot of passes but nothing seems to work. 4141 formation playing defensive, short passing, varying tempos, deep positioning but nothing seems to work and none of my players have more than 50 passes. Can anyone help me as I like playing possesion football

i find out that using more width improves your possesion. slow tempo patient attacking is the way to go.

but dont forget you can have 70% possession and if you cant create chances its worthless.

My current 4-4-2 gets about 60% possesion against equal opposition. All of the players have defensive mentalties from 1-4 clicks except the full backs who are on normal. First click on narrow, all the way quickest on tempo, normal on passing. Results in the back four knocking the ball around until the fullbacks spot a pass and then the attack progresses quickly from there.

Also, as a general guideline for when your thinking about how to make your tactic, Mentality controls how quickly your team advances the ball into an attacking position, temp controls how long each individual player has on the ball to make a decision, so it's entirely possible to play a slow build up game with an incredibly high tempo if you have a low mentality.
