i was just reading through the Aiden Mcgeady thread and i noticed all the english boys where saying just because he plays in the Spl he cant be as good as robihno ect ect..
Well im not a Celtic fan but are you trying to make out tht Henrik Larsson wasnt any good because he played in the Spl?
I no this isnt as such an fm post but i think some of you Glory hunters of England underestimaste the Scottish football as a whole.
Your right, it isn't really a FM topic but I'm gonna try answering your question non the less.
I haven't read the thread your refering to, but I think the general assumption is that even though great players can be playing in smaller leagues, generally if they're good enough most of them will generally at some point be playing in one of the top leagues.
You can't really base a players skills on his performances in a smaller league.
Take a player like Jardel for instance. He scores an awful lot of goals, but was never really considered a top player due to the fact that he was playing in Portugal the most of his career.
Whether the scottish league is underrated or not, I'm probably not the right guy to answer, but taking a look at the scottish teams performances in European competitions, I certainly wouldn't classify them as topteams.
Yes, but, that doesnt change the fact that English, Spanish, Italian, and even brazilian leagues have far better players, Henrik Larsson was a decent player, but id rather have Robinho, Van Nistelrooy, or Rooney then him, the SPL defences have championship/league one standard.
They must be very good players. But if you need to make two threads just to shout at everyone that they are good, then you need to get out of your room more often...

I'd rather have Henrik rather than Henry, Van Nistelrooy or Robinho anyday. Watching him for 7 years at Parkhead was brilliant.
like i said in another thread....if larsson had been playing for man u instead of celtic during his peak years youd be rating him alongside the likes of batistuta
but he played out his contract....why?...because he honours his word....unlike most pros these days
