In the end it's your game and you're perfectly within your right to play it as you see fit. Just as us in here like to play by the rules outlined in the headers and stickies.

Start of season and want to sign unattached players... Post #32
This is from the LLM rules linked to in the header.
"Tactics.
Best to start off using a default tactic and altering formations or giving individual or team instructions to players based on the strengths or weaknesses of your squad, and NOT to use other people’s tactics or formations. The idea of LLM is finding out the errors of your ways though trial and error. Pinching other people’s ideas is not the way of the LLaMa."
OK so it doesn't technically say no visiting the T&T forum but it is generally considered that one figures things out for themselves without outside help. Its the same with visiting the GPG.
As for your scout question, in a game (now crashed) I had in Sweden I had no applicants for the position of scout for a whole year so who knows.

I think you're trying to be realistic nonleague, but that's not always the same as following LLM guidelines.
There's a remarkable story in a thread and link on GQ right now, about a player who has just been bought by *cough* Championship Manager *cough* and given to Bedworth Town in the ECS. No mention of scouting, other than this came about when the CM [:o] bods learned that the Bedworth manager uses CM to do his preliminary scouting!
Oh the irony of ironies

Achieving realism is different for every individual.
If you think something is realistic, then use it. "let your conscience be your guide".
I would recommend using the deviation from the guidelines sparingly. In my experience when I dabbled with the list of loanees without scouting (My scout had left, no-one wanted the job), when I found someone interested in coming, he would inevitably be useless.
So, the reason I say the scout is your friend is because he's more likely to find a player who's around the level you need.

nonleague lots of people have tried to come to this forum and justify using the player search function, tactics forum, and all sorts of other things that we don't use here.
It never works, and we will never be converted.
If you think that what you are doing is realistic, then go right ahead, but I'm done hearing about it thanks.
If you are adhering to the rules of this forum, we'd love to hear a three season update from you.

Show me the filter in FM that says show me all free players from town X and I'll let you have that one.
