2022/23, Schalke 04 German Bundesliga I
So, let's take a look at Germany then. Finances good. Fans plentiful. Board & Fans both hope for Europe after some mediocre seasons.
In come two of my former Lierse players: want-away Brazilian DL and flashy French AM L, plus several lower profile signings, including two useless strikers. I guess my predecessor was fired rightly :p
We play tough. We play hard. Nice football is a no-no, but continous grinding propells us to 1st. Unfortunately the many draws cause us slip down to 2nd when we go for the winter break.
Awfully tough schedule comes with the new year, but we win away at champions Nürnberg and home against 3rd placed HSV, this makes us unbeaten in 18 games. 19th game is against leaders Frankfurt, who beat us with a fake penalty. FA silent over criticism. Rats
Of course slump is inevitable, and 3 defeats in the next 6 games put us out from the title race. We hold on to 3rd though, and hold on for a well-earned bronze.
Pos.: 3rd
P: 34 W: 15 D: 15 L: 4 50-25 60 pts
League champions: Frankfurt, with a runaway 9 pts.
Cups sucked.
- Dresdner SC 9-0 (A)
- Burghausen 1-3 (A) and that was it.
Best player: French AML, who got in the league's best XI.
After the season I decided not to continue, because after 15 seasons I felt it's time to retire.
Teams managed:
- Toulon
- Standard
- Excelsior Rotterdam
- Lierse
- Belgian national team
- Heerenveen
- Schalke 04
I got tired of Europe, and I feel the call of the East. More in 3 seasons' time.
