Hitchin a lift to the top. Version 2. Post patch update thread.
My last save game was ruined thanks to the history bug.
I just looked for the old thread which can be found here, but it has been closed.
Season 1. Conference South 2007/08.
We romped the league with a bunch of pretty average players, despite losing 10 league games. I once again filled my team with big players and just bullied the opposition.
We were Conference South Champions .
I don't think we won any cup games, we didn't buy any players, nobody we wanted on loan would agree to come to us, we didn't have any Fred's, and I found it hard to get players to join me never mind about being able to sell some to raise some cash .
Season 2. Conference National 2008/09.
We finished a respectable 7th in the league, but with 45 minutes of the season remaining, we were in posession of a playoff space, only for results to go against us and drop out of the reckoning.
I don't think we won any cup games, I spent £60,000 on 1 player , (young English Striker), nobody we wanted on loan would agree to come to us and all the Fred's we got were crap, (even the Swedish Fred that we got for some reason) , and I managed to sell players worth £5,000.
Season 3. Conference National 2009/10.
We sort of hovered just outside the playoffs for much of the season, before we managed to put tgether a decent run of form and snooze into the plast playoff spot. From there we pretty much strolled through the playoffs and booked our place in League 2 next year.
We somehow forgot that Cups suck ass and bumbled our way from round to round in the FA Trophy, before winning the Final in extra time.
We were FA Trophy Champions.
So we actually won quite a few cup games, we didn't buy any players, nobody we wanted on loan would agree to come to us, all the Fred's we got were crap, and I managed to sell players worth £10,000.
Apologies for my limited success. I'm sure normal crapness will resume in next few years

I thought we were going to struggle, but is just never really happened. We started off ok and just kept on accumulating points. My big Nigerian target man that I obviously signed on a free, teamed up superbly with the £60K youngster that scored loads of goals for fugazi. I seemed to sign half of N.Ireland, but they were free and didn't ask the Earth in wages, so I wasn't too bothered. We went into the last game of the season needing a win and for other results to go our way in order to make the playoffs. At half time we were sitting pretty and I thought that we were on course for another promotion. Lady luck proceeded to kick us in the goolies as I got the result, but not the reward, as 1 of the other results swung the wrong way and I missed out by a solitary point .
We would be in League 2 again next season.
The highlight of the season was picking up an excellent N.Irish DC with 2 International Caps on a free at the tender age of 22 .
I'm pretty sure we didn't win any cup games, I managed to get this young ex English U19 striker, (with a Spanish name), in on loan from Spurs, towards the end of the Season, (he looks great and I hope to nab him again next season), all the Fred's were crap, and I managed to sell players worth £12K.

After being so close last season I really thought we were going to romp the league. We started pretty well and pretty soon were flying at the top of the table as we started unbeaten in our opening 13 games.
A spate of injuries really knocked the squad and our lack of strength in depth began to tell. Obviously the young English striker at Spurs, (with the Spanish name) refused to come on loan, and funnily enough nobody else wanted to come either. We looked like dropping out of the automatic promotion places completely, before a last day 5-0 victory secured 3rd place and entry into League 1.
The £60K youngster scored 21 goals.
The big Nigerian won 789,987,874 headers .
I'm pretty sure we didn't win any cup games, the youngster from Spurs, (and everybody else), refused to come on loan, all the Freds were crap, and I managed to sell players worth £2K.

We performed above ourselves the last couple of seasons and we came crashing back down to Earth as League 1 gave us a lesson in humility. We hovered in and around the relegation zone all season, but the somehow managed to drag ourselves free from relegation to finish a very creditable 18th in the league.
The £60K youngster who is now middle aged scored 14 goals. This brings his Hitchin league goal total to 72.
The big Nigerian scored 19 goals, (obviously all of them headers). This brings his Hitchin league goal total to 71.
The real story of the season was that my ambitious Chairman suddenly announced that he had taken out a £11.25M loan in order to build a new 12090 all seater stadium.
I hadn't even asked for an expansion of my existing stadium, as we had only about £1M in the bank and I wasn't sure that we were going to avoid relegation, so didn't think there was too much point.
I was flabberghasted !
I'm positive that we didn't win any cup games, nobody wanted to come on loan to us, all the Fred's were crap, and I managed to sell players worth £27K.
