I'm not sure if there are rules about how frequently i can update. And don't get me wrong, I don't plan on updating every other game or anything. But I worked my way through the off-season and I feel I have enough to share now.
Let me know if there is some strict rule about just updating every season. 2010 Summer
The off-season has been a major disappointment so far. I've cleaned house of all the players i felt were just inflating my salary figures. Released mostly 19 year olds with little promise, and only bought out two contracts worth about $6k each.
A Championship squad stole my best Scout from me, and left me $2k in return. Not enough as far as I'm concerned because that Scout had all of my info for the transfer period. Now i'm stuck with a mediocre scout that hasn't been out and about for a while and has close to no leads until i can hire a replacement scout. I did manage to sign a 19yo GK who won't be starting for me, but should grow into my backup sometime this year, only time will tell.
I negotiated a contract offer from my board that offered me 3 years at $500/wk. That's not a raise, and I deserve one for getting us promoted. So I asked for 2 years at $550/wk and then 2 years at $525/wk and finally settled on 2 years at $500/wk. Not happy about that, but I'm too excited about the conf Nat'l to actually take a stand and risk leaving Lancaster.
The only improvement we've had in this off-season is an upgraded coach. I re-signed my Ass Mgr, who is a little under par but passable (and didn't improve any categories from last year). But I attracted no worthy candidates in the adverts.
Overall, I'm disappointed with my lack of improvement this summer. I figured to improve either my starting GK or at least a starting defender. Coming out of the summer with only a Backup GK and a new coach just does not cut it in my book. I feel the loss of my scout hampered my ability to improve, or at least that's my excuse. And we were unlucky to not receive any spectacular youngsters in the new crop.
I just don't see the start of this season going well.
