Hi All:

Hope this doesn't fall under the prohibited area of a tactics discussion, but I have an aging DM/AssMan who is quite good as an AssMan, but doesn't really get on the field anymore and doesn't want to stop being a player (and is cheap).

In general, is there any improvement to be gained by getting a full-time Assistant? Or should I just keep trotting him out for friendlies/FA Trophy matches (and I do mean trot - I think he'd lose a race with a sloth)?

Depends if you think you'll want to choose him for future matches.

No, I'd be happy if he never wears a uniform again.

He does a good job as an assistant manager, but since he's the only one I've ever had I don't know if I'd see improvements by dumping him and hiring a full-time assistant manager.

My guess is that a full time Assman would be better than a part time Assman but I have absolutely no facts to base that on.

If he is a F/T ass then he will have more time to train players, so you may see an improvement in training.

That's my theory too... OK, off to the job centre at the end of the season - if I get a halfway decent applicant, I'll test it out.

I find these old gits are happy to accept a player/staff contract with back-up status, thus he doesn't mind languishing in the reserves.
