Season 2007/2008

Still in Conference South
POS1st P42 W25 D10 L7 FOR76 AG39 PTS85

We were predicted to finish 11th despite last season's 7th place finish. A few more free transfers brought me some good defenders and strikers and a little more help in midfield. My signing of the season was a free transfer striker who finished with 21 league goals, the first goals of his career.

The season started off really well and from the end of September until the end of the season we were never away from top spot in the league, although some poor form at the end of the season meant we only won the title and promotion by 4pts.

In the FA Cup we exited in the 1st Round again, this time to Bury after taking them to a replay. The first game was 2-2, and I narrowly lost the replay 0-1.

The FA Trophy saw our worst form as we exited to Carshalton in the 3rd Qualifying Round, quite embarrassing.

As the Board and Fans expected us to finish mid-table it was nice to over perform and guide a team of free transfers to promotion, although it'll take a big effort to stay up in the Conference National.

Season 2008/2009

Now in Conference National
POS7th P42 W24 D8 L14 FOR92 AG62 PTS80

The media predicted us to finish 22nd out of the 24 clubs and go down, so to confound those critics was good. I released and sold some of the players that I deemed weren't good enough to step up and play in the National (cheap releases funded my 300k sale at the end of 2006/2007 season). Again I only brought in free transfers, a couple of GKs some Defenders, a few MFs and some more Strikers. Not all joined the team in the summer, some joined during the season as I performed above expectations. My top scorer was not the same from the year before, but this striker scored 25 league goals for me with his partner getting 22, quite a strike partnership.

The season began badly with a lot of goals conceded and 5 losses in 7 games. After we had settled down our form was up and down until we went on a 12 game unbeaten run quickly pushing us up the table. Our form stayed steady for much of the season and moved us as high as 4th and in the playoffs. But just as we peaked in the table, we hit a bad patch of form which pushed us down to 10th and out of reach of the playoffs. A stunning 7-5 defeat to Exeter at Home was very infuriating, but winning 7-0 against Kidderminster eased that feeling. 4 wins from 6 games ended the season and left us 7th, and 5 points out of the playoffs.

In the FA Cup we stunned Carlisle (League One) with a 2-1 win on their own ground in the 1st Round, but the 2nd Round proved disappointing with a 3-0 defeat against Notts County (League Two)

The FA Trophy gave us a better Cup run but ended in a 4th Round defeat to Hereford who went on to win the Trophy.

The Board, Fans and Media expected a battle against relegation but a big effort put us in a temporary challenge for the playoffs. A very nice season, but I expect things to be tougher next season.

No actually. It wasn't even a joke, but if it was I guess it would've been a poor one

Season 2009/2010

POS3rd P46 W23 D11 L12 FOR80 AG55 PTS80

Despite finishing 7th the season before the media had us predicted to finish 14. We finished on the same amount of points as last season but this time it was enough to get into the playoffs. I signed a few midfielders and strikers to strengthen the team, all on free transfers and brought in some defenders as back up. Top scorer finished with a nice 26 goals, not bad for a free transfer signing.

The season got off to a good start with a nice unbeaten streak that lasted 11 games but a poor run followed that dropped us down to 11th. Another good run lifted us up the table and to finish the season we traded wins and losses, but thankfully other promotion hopefuls faltered down the stretch and that saw us finish 3rd.

The playoffs saw us regain our form with a 7-5 aggregate victory over Halifax. In the final we had Cambridge who led the league most of the season but struggled in the run-in. A goalless 90 minutes followed before 2 quick fire goals in extra time put Yeading into League Two.

The FA Cup failed to give us a boost in income as we exited in the 1st Round to League One Swindon 0-1.

Once again we exited the FA Trophy in the 4th Round, getting trounced 4-0 by fellow Conference National side Leigh.

The Board and Fans were expecting mid-table anonymity but again we performed above expectations and got promoted, now League Two will likely be a real struggle.

Thanks, normally I'm not successful with lower league clubs so I'm just waiting for it all to go pear shaped and suffer multiple relegations.

I've noticed it's still hard to sign better quality players, but I'll have to make do and try to finish 22nd.

Season 2010/2011

Now in League Two
POS4th P46 W19 D18 L9 FOR66 AG53 PTS75

We finally turned professional the start of the season and the Media predicted us to finish 24th. Board and Fans expected a brave battle against relegation. A couple of free transfers and finally some money transfers helped bring some depth to the squad in D, MF and S. A free transfer Goalkeeper gave me better options in goal too. Top scorer finished with only 19 goals but our Defenders and Goalkeeper meant we could live 1-0 wins most of the season.

The season started well with a couple of wins and multiple draws which meant we suffered our first loss after 7 games. We stayed consistent through most of the season and hung around the playoff positions all season. A bad run in February and March with 10 games without a win (6draws 4losses) pushed us out of the playoffs, but only 7points out of an automatic promotion place. Down to the final game and we still have guaranteed ourselves a playoff spot, but can still gain automatic promotion. The final game we win 3-1 but York won 3-2 thanks to a 90th minute goal meaning they got promoted on goal difference and got their second successive promotion. So we finished 4th and got into the playoffs.

Despite some horrid recent away form we won in the playoffs against Wrexham 3-3 on aggregate and 4-3 over 9 penalties taken each. In the Final and our first game at Wembley we faced the in form Blackpool (9 wins out of 11 games). A couple of goals before half time put us in firm control at 2-0 going into halftime, and a 46th minute penalty put us in a comfortable 3-0 lead. Then 2 quick fire goals put Blackpool back in the tie with 25 minutes to go, but fortunately we held our nerve and achieved an unlikely promotion.

The FA Cup saw our greatest run to date with victories over Halifax, Burton and Exeter. The 4th Round was different though with a tough away tie against Tottenham, we performed better than I thought but still lost 1-3 and got £500,000 in gate receipts.

Our first trip in the League Cup was quite successful also with a victory over League 1 Leyton Orient. That set up a 2nd Round home tie against Premiership Fulham which we lost only 0-1.

Our first Johnstones Paint Trophy was a success too as we reached the Southern Semi Finals with victories against 3 League 1 sides before losing out to Rushden while in a little poor run.

A surprising season somehow saw us gain promotion again, but now with a small stadium and no signs of expansion, competing in League 1 will be a real challenge.
