2006/7 - Marine (Conference North)

I move to the edge of Scouseland and take on the boys that have returned from Iraq.
I inherit a fairly good squad, which gives me a good platform to work from.

And I have a very good season. My striker bangs in 35 goals in 47 games and it propels us to within two points of leaders Stafford with three games to go. I beat Stafford in the third last game but then lose the last two to blow the title.

Conference North: 2nd, 76 points. Lose in playoff semi final to Stalybridge Celtic.
F.A. Cup Third Qualifying Round: Billericay Town 1 Marine 0
F.A. Trophy Second Qualifying Round: Marine 0 Warrington Town 1

Default Where The Hell Is Billericay?! (Football Manager 2006 Edition)

All leagues full - England
All leagues normal - Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland & Wales
Top league only basic - France, Germany, Italy & Spain
Huge database

2005/6 - Workington (Conference North)

I decided on Workington before Glyn came up with the LLM Challenge over at SI. No doubt most will know about them now because of the Challenge.

Whole season sucked arse. Right from the first friendly (lost 0-6 to Bury with a 1-28 shot count) to resigning in shame, already relegated with four games left.
The only highlight was a 7-1 win at St Albans City, which unfortunately was in the F.A. Trophy.

Conference North: Resigned with four games left when bottom and relegated.
F.A. Cup Second Qualifying Round replay: Workington 0 Folkestone Invicta 1
F.A. Trophy First Round replay: Weston-super-Mare 1 Workington 0

Premier League: Liverpool
Championship: Crystal Palace (Coventry relegated)
League One: Doncaster Rovers
League Two: Lincoln City (Grimsby relegated)
Conference: Aldershot Town
Conference North: Worksop Town
Conference South: Weymouth (by 30 points!)
F.A. Cup: Manchester City 2 Birmingham City 2 (penalties 4-2)
League Cup: Everton 2 manure 2 (penalties 3-2)
F.A. Trophy: Halifax Town 1 Burton Albion 0

SPL: Rangers
Ireland: Shelbourne
Northern Ireland: Linfield
Wales: Bangor City
Bundesliga: Schalke (double)
Ligue Une: Lyon (5th successive)
La Liga: Valencia
Serie A: AC Milan

Champions Cup: Lyon 3 Juventus 0 (Stade des Trois Tilleuls, Brussels)
UEFA Cup: manure 2 Sporting Lisbon 0 (Wankdorf, Bern)

World Cup: Italy 1 Brazil 0
Third United States, Hosts Germany
England knocked out of groups by United States, Ukraine & Ivory Coast. Sven is sacked \o/ and replaced by Alan Curbishley

2007/8 - Marine (Conference North)

A very poor start to the season sees us bottom after seven games. However, the cups kick our arses up to gear and we steadily rise up the table thanks to a consistent season.
However, those first seven games cost us the Conference North title as we finish three points behind the winners.

Conference North - 4th, 67 points
Playoffs - Marine 2 Southport 2
Southport 2 Marine 0
F.A. Cup Second Round - Rushden & Diamonds 6 Marine 0
F.A. Trophy Second Round - Marine 1 Woking 3

Premier League: Everton
Championship: Birmingham City (Leeds relegated)
League 1: Tranmere Rovers (Coventry relegated)
League 2: Barnsley
Conference: York City
Conference North: Gateshead
Conference South: Weston-super-Mare

F.A. Cup: Newcastle United 2 Cardiff City 1
League Cup: Tottenham Hotspur 3 Liverpool 2
F.A. Trophy: York City 3 Burton Albion 0

Scotland: Rangers
Northern Ireland: Linfield
Ireland: Drogheda United
Wales: Bangor City
France: Lyon (double)
German: Bayern Munich (retained)
Italy: Juventus (retained)
Spain: Real Madrid

Champions Cup: Liverpool 2 manure 2 (penalties 3-2) (Stade Velodrome, Marseilles)
UEFA Cup: Hertha Berlin 0 PSV Eindhoven 0 (penalties 3-2) (De Kuip, Rotterdam)

Close season news sees my God like striker being sold. After scoring 83 goals in 119 games (including 44 in his final season), there are currently five teams bidding as my game got saved.

At least he typed that first.

I still get the creeps when I think about Nobby's 'Bestest ever 100 ...' threads back in the days when he was racing into the 999 club

I left the papers with my first two seasons at home, so I had no choice.

I could start a God like striker's best 100 goals... but he only scored 83.

KUTGW Nobby -

But US taking 3rd in the World Cup? I'm surprised you didn't start over due to lack of realism!

What's a Fi?

Why do the marines abbreviate that to a statement that means nothing?

Do they call their Country a... well you get the picture?

Some might call their mother a 'moth', though!
