So...

Where the hell is Billericay?

2008/9 (Part 2) - Billericay Town (Conference)

I return to the scene of my best ever run in CM/FM, my 17 season epic at New Lodge. Like last time, I join them when they're in the Conference, however this time, they narrowly missed out on the playoffs last season and previous manager Taffarel (WTF?!) left for Huddersfield Town, leaving Billericay 11th place in the Conference.

And for once, I am glad for a F.A. Trophy game. This comes first, and it's an ideal game (two as it went to a replay) to find out about some of my new players.

I started with three straight league wins, but then a run of 11 without a win before picking back up saw us finish pretty much where I started.

Conference - 12th, 61 points
F.A. Trophy First Round replay - Northwich Victoria 4 Billericay Town 4 (Northwich win 2-0 on penalties)

Premier League: Chelsea (Stoke City relegated )
Championship: Portsmouth
League One: Queens Park Rangers
League Two: Chesterfield
Conference: Chester City
Conference North: Hednesford Town (Marine relegated)
Conference South: Tamworth
F.A. Cup: Chelsea 2 Bolton Wanderers 0
League Cup: Chelsea 4 Tottenham Hotspur 2
F.A. Trophy: Woking 1 Stevenage Borough 1 (penalties 4-2)

Scotland: Celtic (Greenock Morton win the Cup & get relegated to Division 2)
Wales: Bangor City (retained, Briton Ferry win the Cup
Northern Ireland: Linfield (retained)
Ireland: Drogheda United (retained & double)
Italy: Juventus (third successive)
France: Lyon (retained & seventh in eight seasons & domestic treble)
Spain: Real Madrid (retained)
Germany: Schalke

Champions Cup: Bayern Munich 1 Juventus 0 (Wankdorf, Berne)
UEFA Cup: Newcastle United 2 Fiorentina 1 (Westfalen, Dortmund)

Close season transfer news sees my best player, a Dutch left back previous signed from Stoke move back home to NEC Nijmegen for £200,000 whilst attempts to sign my Marine God like striker fails as he won't drop down to the Conference, despite wanting first team football.

2009/10 - Billericay Town (Conference)

My first full season back at New Lodge, and we're falling heavily in debt, more on that in a mini tidbit later.
A 15 year old striker is the only youth player promoted, and he turns out to be a bit useful. Making his debut in the Suck Arse, he scores 8 goals in 19 appearances, not a bad first effort.

In early February, I get offered the Tamworth job. Despite being tempted to the place, their very low salary budget and the fact they only offered me half my current wage meant I refused.

On the pitch, the bookies had us at 25-1 to go up. Inconsistent form for most of the season (bar a six match win streak) meant those odds were a good price.

Conference - 10th, 68 points
F.A. Cup Second Round - Billericay Town 0 Crewe Alexandra 1
F.A. Trophy Second Round - Lewes 2 Billericay Town 1
Suck Arse Trophy First Round South - Brentford 6 Billericay Town 3

Premiership: Liverpool (Everton relegated)
Championship: West Ham United
League One: Nottingham Forest
League Two: Peterborough United
Conference: Stockport County
Conference North: Burton Albion
Conference South: Weston-super-Mare
F.A. Cup: manure 1 Fulham 0
League Cup: Chelsea 2 manure 1
F.A. Trophy: Scarborough 2 Grimsby Town 1

Scotland: Rangers
Ireland: Drogheda United (three in a row)
Northern Ireland: Linfield (three in a row)
Wales: Bangor City (three in a row)
Italy: AC Milan
France: Bordeaux
Germany: Schalke (retained)

Champions Cup: Bayern Munich 2 Inter Milan 1 (Lerkandal Stadion, Trondheim)
UEFA Cup: Porto 1 Borussia Dortmund 0 (Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid)

A couple of tidbits...
I am awarded third in Conference Manager of the Year
Two of my players get first and third in goal of the season... in the same match (Crawley at home)
Three cash injections happen in the year, totalling £266,325. Despite this, we end the season £399,170 in debt. Oh dear.

Next season...
The return of an old acquaintance
