Frank gave me the rather unenviable task of managing Weston super-Mare in the Conference South.
A first glance at their team revealed a couple of potentially decent players, but in need of a squad overhaul if they are to achieve anything more than the media, board and fan predictions of mid-table obscurity. So I set out in the first season to find out who was worth keeping, who was a waste of space and who I could bring in - although things never seem to go to plan!
Season 06/07 - Conference South
Although WsM had a media prediction of 15th place, and lacked the ability to hit cow's arse with a banjo, the even poorer quality of opposition strikers saw us pick up quite a few points both home and away, achieving a final position of 5th place, and a playoff spot

The first leg saw us lose 2-1 to Bishops Stortford. Demanding nothing less than a win on the return leg, we secured a 2-0 victory and a place in the final against Sutton Utd.
After a dire first half, we went in 2-1 down. Giving them the hairdryer treatment seemed to work, and we came back to win 3-2 and achieve promotion in the first season. Who said football management was hard?

Season 07/08 - Conference National After the eleation of last season, we returned back to earth with a bump. Six games in, we had lost six, scored none and conceded six, suggesting that the media prediction of 40-1 outsiders, and likely to finish in 24th position was spot on. A tactical shake-up saw us begin to pick up points and move out of the relegation zone. We finally finished in ?th place.

Season 08/09 – Conference National
Although I thought that we were now in a more comfortable position to push on in the league, the media still had us down as a predicted 22nd place. A superb start to the season aw us sitting comfortably in the play-offs after twelve games. However, a monumental slump in form saw us drop off to 18th place. A small change in fortune saw us rise to 16th place where we finished.
