Season 2018-2019 - Championship

A season of major developments at Edgely Park. On the transfer front nine players left for £9.5million pounds, 14 players left on frees, and an extra £5.1 million was earned through future sell on clauses. £2.7 million was spent on five new players in the summer and £700k on seven players in January.

Last season's top scorer decided that he wanted to leave the club - again. Seeing as his contrac was up at the end of the season and he refused to sign a new one he found himself playing in the reserves (and released on a free in January).

In the league we climbed to second position on the back of a nine game winning streak, and remained there for the rest of the season clinching promotion with three games to go. Aston Villa were in first place from the twelfth game to the finish.

Cups were pretty average

P46 W25 D10 L11 F69 A40 Pts85 (Pos- 2nd)

Highlight: Promotion
Lowlight: Our nine match winning streak coming to an abrupt halt at West Brom (lost 2-4)
Star Man: 22 year-old towering centre back
Top Scorer: 21 year-old Jamaican AM/FC (16 goals)

Stockport 1-1 WsM
WsM 1-2 WsM

WsM were relegated from the Championship, and have borrowed £25m to move into a brand new all-seater stadium...

It says so in the manual, but I tried them both and Sunday League gave me a lower rep. </BLOCKQUOTE>

I chose automatic too when I started out with Blyth Spartans, and that gave me an "unproven" reputation. I thought unproven was the lowest rep you could have?

Season 2019-20 - Premier League

Stockport's first season in the top flight was a roller coaster ride. £6.5mill woth of players left in the pre-season, with a massive £12million invested in new players to help maintain our top flight status. £5mill pound was spent on a powerful Montenegrean CB.

We started surprisingly well, reaching the dizzying heights of 9th at one point. We stabilised at around 15ht position midway through the season. A chronic injury crisis saw u win only 3 games after the christmas period and we slipped to 18th place with two games to go. A 1-0 defeat at home to Newcastle and I thought that our relegation fate was sealed. Luckily, Wigan lost 3-0 and we stayed up by virtue of goals scored (42 goals compared to 26)!!!!!

P38 W8 D10 L20 F42 A62 Pts34 - Pos 17th

Highlight - Wigan losing 3-0!
Lowlight - Our away form - nine points earned away all season
Star Man - Towering Montenegrean Centre Back
Top Scorer - 28 year old SC and 33 year old SC (11 goals)

Cups suck arse for the first time in many years

WsM are relegated for the second year running. Their debts are massive and I fear for their future!

Why not leave Stockport as somewhat of a legend and return to W-S-M to see if you can revive them by firstly consolidating and helping to reduce there finances immensely.
Not very realistic really is it? How managers would walk out of a Premier league job to rejoin a much smaller team? Even if there was someone <STRIKE>foolish enough</STRIKE> who loved a club enough, their wages would cripple the club. If they were inclined to take a massive pay cut (christ this is getting more far-fetched by the second!) then the smaller club wouldn't be able to afford the compensation.

Having said that, if Aston Villa's boss (who is proven at lower league management) wants to pop along to The Racecourse and help us out IRL, I'm more than happy to eat my words!
