Season 10/11 - Conference National

After the good form towards the end of last season, I was confident of pushing for a top half finish. Midway through the season we were sat in first position having conceded only 6 goals in 23 games. This was also the point at which I installed the 7.0.1 patch. Come the final game of the season there was only 1 point separating WSM in first place and Peterborough and Sutton Utd in second and third. We beat Gateshead 3-1 away to secure league football for WSM next season

Highlight: promotion
Lowlight: losing two game to already relegated clubs in the title run-in
Star Man: 22 year-old AML
Top Scorer: 25 year-old SC (13 goals)

Season 2011-12 - League Two

The board decided to turn the club into a professional outfit (or were they forced?) meaning that I had a greatly expanded wage and transfer budget. However, the fact that nobody of any note wanted to join WSM, meant that I had pretty much the same squad as last season. I did however manage to sign two new centre forwards - both of whom turned out to be cracking purchases. A new young centre back also proved to be a useful purchase.

In terms of the league, we got off to a flyer and managed to maintain it most of the way through the season. An injury crisis about two thirds of the way through saw us slip out of the playoff positions, and we were never able to properly get our form back. Still, a much better performance than the media doom-mongers who had us as odds-on favourites for the

drop!

Highlight: getting to FA Cup 3rd Round and earning 750k in the process from gate reciepts
Lowlight: a 5-0 drubbing at home by Barnsley
Star Man: 24 year old AML
Top Scorer: 22 year old SC (16 goals)

I have no idea whether Weston-super-Mare and Newport are rivals in real life (I didn't even know Newport was in Wales until Frank sent me there), but at least on the game Weston-super-Mare seem to have some issues with Newport

I'm in my fourth season at Newport and the pudknocker who was in charge at Weston-super-Mare was always throwing off on me in the press (until he was sacked a few weeks ago, much to my amusement) ... then they bring in some assclown from Tunisia to be the new manager and he already had a fairly poor opinion of me on his very first day ... an interesting side note though, the first guy in charge at Weston-super-Mare, as much as he disliked me, he was always praising my players after matches against them

I am a Newportonian, and I can honestly say that I'm not aware of any particularly strong rivalry with WSM. Chippenham, maybe, but not WSM. However, when Newport first came back into being after the bankruptcy issues, they had to play in Gloucester for a bit, so that might have *something* to do with it. No idea though, really.
