The assman and friendlies , does my head in. Every year he arranges them, they get cancelled, and I have to sort some out myself.

Anyway, I like to have one game against an SPL side, usually Aberdeen or ICT as they're the closest.

LLM is about realism. A question, as I live in down side up land. In real life, do Conf North/South teams actually get Premier League teams in friendlies and if so what would be the frequency once a season once every 2 or 3 seasons etc?

Just curious.

Living in Weston, their "big" pre-season friendly is usually against one of the Bristol teams. I did go and see Cardiff's 2nd/3rd string play a preseason friendly against them a couple of years ago, but we'd only have been League 1 equivalent at the time.

This season Reading played Didcot Town and Bromley as their first two preseason friendlies.

It tends to be fairly local non-league sides.

Thanks Michal and the Bristol teams are in Championship or below aren't they?

I guess what I am getting to is that you need to take care when arranging friendlies that realistic teams are chosen, as otherwise you are giving yourself an unrealistic advantage finance wise. As I am not very knowledgable re the realism of this due to not living in the UK I leave them up to my Ass Man or where he doesnt do it I take care as to who I pick to ensure I don't pick too high. Now I'm wondering if I have been too hard on myself. Still I suppose that is the Way of the LLama]

Pretty much the same in Scotland, I know that Aberdeen play away to at least a couple of the lower league and Highland league teams.

I wonder if this isn't more complex than it appears in the game.
My assistant does the friendlies & in my first 3 seasons at Giannena the friendlies were always local in front of 150 or so people.

Last season we got back door entry to the Euro cup & this seasons friendlies were in Turkey, including 2 against top sides.
