Default Trinity troubles

My first game was with Bedford and I bought players and staff from the transfer list. I got a whole bunch of decent guys and played for a couple of seasons.

Then I found the LLM guide-lines and the filthy feeling of guilt came over me and I couldn't continue playing. In a drunken rage I deleted all saves and pouted for a while.

Frank got me going again and he sent me to Gainsborough and so far I have played a pretty zealous game. Scouting, report cards and trials before even considering buying any players (so far I signed 4 freebies).

I've got a parent club that generously loaned me a few players and 2 of them are regulars in my team. Of course they were scouted before I took them on, so I'm still doing alright, I think?

Now to my problem. I've advertised for half a season for additional staff and I found a couple of coaches, quite crappy, but better than I already have. But scouts!...not one has replied in 6 months, which just drives me mad. And of the few physios that repled, no one had better skills than 3!

I peeked in the search list and there are plenty of available dudes, why do they rather sit on welfare benefits than to at least show their interest? And of course I haven't approach anyone from that list, if you happen to wonder...

"Since the huge improvement in the Job Centre in FM2007 the way to obtain Staff is to advertise in the Centre and choose Staff who apply (if they'll sign). The use of Staff Search is now frowned upon and must only be used as a last resort."

When should I throw in the towel and use the search for staff as "a last resort"?

If the answer is never, will that mean I never will find anyone interested to come to my club?

Frustrated Froghat.

I can only tell you what I would do, just keep advertising the jobs and take anyone who'll come, sign them on short contracts & keep the advert running.

Eventually something should turn up, it will depend to some extent on how many leagues & what size database you have loaded as staff numbers are proportional to that.

If it's any consolation, I'm in my 5th season and my physio has 7 for his trade & my scout couldn't judge at a vegetable show.

Not sure how everyone does it, most would wait until an application comes in, sure I read about someone waiting a year to get a scout.

Or was that an assman...?

It's scouts that are hardest, I know one of the patches addressed this problem at least to an extent.
Do you have the latest patch installed froghat?

Yep, got the latest patch.

I have something like 20 leagues, but only 7-8 playable, the rest are view only.

Heh Kriss, my physio actually have 8, so why do I come here and whinge? But my scout...with a JPA of (1) is really annoying me. Well, at least he found a few names for me. So I suppose I better keep my patience and keep the addy going. Or I might be back to the fringes of mucking about with the rules and fooling myself. I don't want to do that again!

Nah, stick with it, scouts do improve you know so he might get better.
If you don't put any stipulations on him he will at least produce a lot of names, then you have to rely on your judgement a bit.
My scout produce 2 who got international caps so it does happen.

Okay so they were a Turk and a Malteser but what the heck

Parent feeder relationships between English clubs are a no-no Froghat, the FA specifically prohibits them, so you should cancel any such links.
