Well, I made a good faith effort to be LLM, but I guess I just don't have it. I apologize to anyone who felt that I was trolling. Feel free to close/delete this thread.

Although now I wish my scouts had never found the foreign players, I do think that it's true-to-life for teams to sign whomever they think can help them win (who speak the native language). It seems, though, that's a minority opinion, and I guess I can see how that would be open to abuse.

So I'll be on my way. Thanks for all the fish.

Did you retain Slovenians? Could it be a FRED thats generated that nationality?

That is possible but you shouldn't retain players, if you loaded all European leagues and retained Japan, Japanes players could turn up in the game very early, depending on the "knowledge" of all staff at every club.

Retaining has to be a big no no surely.

Grey area perhaps? I know a few LLaMa's have done it according to some of the update threads.

I think the latest patch sorted this but if players weren't retained then newly promoted teams to the lowest playable league would be full of greys resulting in mass player purchases by those teams - or something like that.

Did a quick test to determine this, starting a new game with just the British leagues loaded results in quite a lot of Slovenians & Icelanders appearing on game start. There are also many others who you would not expect to see.
Of course even a game thus defined includes clubs from all over the world, so my conclusion is that you can't really rule out any nationality appearing.

OK, I had to peek once more...

Kriss, I think you may have it - this is my first game ever, and I had no idea which leagues to load, so I loaded the following:

England (Conf Nat.)
Scotland (Div. 2)
USA
Romania (Div. B)

There are lots and lots of foreigners around the leagues - I came close to signing players from Sweden, Denmark, Canada, Gabon, Cyprus, Congo, St. Kitts, Portugal, Italy, etc.

I'm not an expert in English football. I just thought this was the normal course of things. It was surprising to me when everyone thought it was a big problem. Maybe it was just my setup.

Even if you only loaded the English league you would still have players from all over the world.
The game makes up the numbers by selecting any club which may appear in any competition you enter plus a random selection of clubs from every continent.
There is no way to set up a game and guarantee that Slovenians, Icelanders or any other nation will not be represented.

I should add to that, your scout has to find them, so it's his knowledge plus the players current location which are key.

As it's your 1st real LLM game people will be a little more suspicious. I certainly don't know every player at every club within the UK, let alone their nationality so what you've stated is well within the bounds of reason as far as I am concerned.

It just looks a little funny to see so many nationalities being signed.

It does look very funny, but as Chris says not impossible. I have a Ghana-born forward at Barrow, but he's an English national, who was released, signed for another non-league team and then signed for me. Colony says his players were playing for other English clubs when he signed them, so surely no problem is there?
