I won't even pretend to have a clue about what everyone is talking about in this thread. 2009-10 - Conference National Board and Fans: Mid-table Media: 9th (7-4 odds for promotion) Actual Finish: 1st \o/ (P46 W30 D6 L10 GF82 GA46 Pts96) FA Cup: 2nd round (Oxford) FA Trophy: 2nd round (Exeter) Leading scorer: Slovenian FC, 21 Fan's Player: Icelandic FC
Almost threw my laptop against the wall after 1 point from 3 matches put the team in second place with 8 to play. Luckily I didn't and the team clinched with 2 matches to go. Up to the dizzy heights of League 2! Tried to take some time to celebrate, but that lasted about 3 minutes before I started to think about what I needed to strengthen for next year.
The best moment of the season didn't even happen in England - my Icelandic FC came off the bench for the national team to score a crucial tying goal in a WC qualifier. Iceland qualified for the WC (and beat Argentina (insert Nelson Muntz ha-ha)).
I signed a Nigerian GK, mainly to annoy Lukewarm. Factoid: WC 2010: Brazil 3-0 France. England eliminated in the group stages after a dismal 1-1 tie with the US (Nelson Muntz ha-ha here too). This was where my gf finally drew the line - she was fine with me being hunched over the laptop every evening, but she did not want updates on the 2010 World Cup. Factoid 2: All four teams promoted to the Conference were relegated with 4 games to play. Factoid 3: Got to the U-18 Cup Final against Chelsea (beat Man U in the semis on PKs). Does this mean the team qualifies for the U-18 UEFA Cup?

You don't annoy me colonypod.
Its fairly simple from my perspective.
I don't see how you signed a Slovene in your first season in England, given that your range of scouting is UK at best.
Especially as none are there at the start.

In addition, whilst this is a little greyer, LLM is about playing as realisically as the game allows.
League of Nations is not realistic.
Maybe too Zealous, but hey.

I lost all interest I had in this update, which was extremely low in the first place.
Icelanders are possible, Slovenians are much, much less so, and I'm positive there aren't any Nigerian GKs in England. Basically, you're not playing the way we ask people to play if they're going to post about their save game in here.
To think that we feel any sort of true emotion about or toward you based on this save game is pretty egocentric.

The sad thing is I once watched a Nigerian GK play for Maidenhead against Basingstoke and Basingstoke had two Argentinians and a St Kitts & Nevis international.
But pretty unusual.

How did I miss all these foreigners he was signing?
Maybe he's taking some foreigners too.

Couldn't all this be based on what countries he's running?
Eg a lot of Icelanders seem to turn up in England if Iceland is loaded. At least it does in my games - don't sign them unless they are from another team within the scouting zone though.

Nah. The balance is affected after several seasons, the Slovenian was signed in the first season.

Hey, look, I don't want to get off on the wrong foot here. I like it here in LLM-land. I'd be happy to PM whomever about which clubs I've gotten these players from, if that helps to prove that these transfers are on the level.
Honest question: If I pay 70k for a player from a UK team, is it really not LLM if the player doesn't happen to be from the UK nationality-wise?
I don't know if it's uncool to use RL examples here, but in RL Forest Green did bring in a player from Eastern Europe this season.
Trivia: In my 2009-10 Conference National season, the leading goal-scorer was Brazilian.
