What's your biggest manegerial error of judgement.
Mine is absolutely criminal.
It's the league cup semi final.
Brentford vs Blackburn.
I won the away leg 3-2.
With the match goalless at Giffin Park, 15 mins from the end, I decided to bring on extreme backup keeper Daniel Turner, who I bought from Halesowen for no other reason than that he shares names with my flatmate.
Let's be clear, there are no footballing redeeming features of this player whatsoever, and it's already clear that the step up from Confererence South to Premiership has been too much for the 27 year-old.
I also set him to take free kicks and penalties and to come up for corners. Because he has the same name as my flatmate.
I figured it doesn't really matter if we conceed, because we'll go through on away goals.
Sure enough on the 89th minute, Blackburn's David Walton scored a 85 yard strike while Turner was at the other end of the pitch for a corner.
Imagine my distress when as 90mins came around, the game wasn't over.
It turns out that away goals don't decide the match if the scores are tied at full time, we would now be going to extra time.
I had unwittingly committed myself to be chasing a goal for the next 30mins with the world's worst keeper in goal (you'll be pleased to know, I immediately told him to stop coming up for corners).
Blackburn only had one shot on target during extra time (Which, of course, went in), but this was cancelled out by a goal at the other end from Harry Wessels.
I was bracing myself for a penalty shootout with the world's worst keeper in goal, but just when i thought it was all over, it was now.
It turns out away goals are counted after extra time and not before.
And it was VERY close to costing me my big day out at Wembley.
Anyone else fancy sharing any tales of great managerial incompetence?

to many to remember but my worst may have been on 06 when I brought in Zednek Grgera at the back after reccomendation by my scout, I only played him 12 times in his one season at the club and in every game he played we conceded 2 goals...
sold him to championship team Charlton for £1,000,000 but he wanted me to pay him his £11,500 per week until the end of his contract which was for another 2 years cause he was dropping a division!
I was forced accept, he didn't do very well at charlton either...

I remember back in the day on FM05, i got my beloved Bristol City into the premiership, and I tried to buy David Beckham.. He said that he would have no intention of joining City, and my mate for a laugh said offer him max everything...so I offered: 123k pw, signing on fee of 5m, 20k per appearance, goal bonus of 20k, yearly wage increase of 25% etc, and it turned out he accepted it, and in his first game he scored a hat-trick of free kicks so cost me 203k in 1 game!! He ended up scoring 10 goals, and if i remember correctly, he cost me something stupid like 10m in one season!!

That is the best FM story I have ever heard, absolutely hilarious.
