I've played around 5 seasons with the new patch, time to vent...
1. I am sick of watching the opposition's strikers quite literally dance around my defenders, sometimes my defenders literally stand still whilst an attacker runs past him! What's the point of having defenders with high tackling/marking stats if they are not going to tackle?
2. Same principle goes towards attackers, I spend £3.5M on Landon Donovan and he keeps missing 1v1 chances, why bother spending money on a good player if his stats mean nothing? Reading won the EPL in my game in the second season, with Man Utd 7th and Liverpool 11th. Ridiculous.
3. The transfer system still suffers from all the same old problems. As soon as you try to buy a good unknown player, half the Premiership want him. Why is it so difficult to sell players? Why can I not sell Thiago Neves and Stephan Pearson despite them having at least Championship if not Premiership stats?
4. The "new news" system. Why do I have to go to 2 places for news instead of 1?
5. I keep Derby in the Premiership after we were tipped to go down, yet the board consider not giving me a new contract because I lost to Manchester United away in the second round of the league cup. Nice.
6. Please get rid of team talks, they do nothing. And why are assistant managers as embarrassing poor as ever?
All good points, all covered extensively in the forum. Time and again, it's the same points people are making, the same problems ruining the game, most of which can be covered by one simple phrase:
1 - TBH I can't say I'm having terrible difficulties because of this. It's annoying at times, but probably it's a classic case of something not being repreented as it should.
2 - About the 1v1, you are absolutely right, more so considering the ease with which the oppositions seems to score. About the standings, well, I prefer them to be that way, without the absolute certainty of who's gonna finish where, as of July.
3 - Cannot agree more! I resigned myself to let their contracts runs out if I really wanna rid myself of them.
4 - I personally think that the new news section was a brilliant move by SI. I still get relevant news in my inbox :thup:
5 - Agreed. I think the feature was implemented before it actually was adequately tried and tested. Now god knows what it will take before it's fixed (as SI surely won't pull it out of 09 acknowledging 'defeat').
6 - Team talks were perfect as they were on 07, for me at least. Now they seem to be a half-working-half-not feature. Just an impression though, as I cannot say I have run an experiment a la' kipfizh or SiN8 (and in all honesty I simply don't have the time).
Nevertheless, the game is playable AND enjoyable IMHO.
