It's not a question of losing a dominated game. It's the mere fact that a dominated game has 20, 30, even 40 shots taken by one side, regardless of who wins. It's bad enough to only score 3 goals with 30+ shots, even if you win, but what really gets people's goat is when they have 30+ shots with 15+ on, many of those being quality, 1-on-1 chances, and the AI wins 3-1 with 3 shots on of 5 taken.

And that seems to happen at a much greater rate than it does irl ...

read that and notice the keepers at the lower teams in premier are avarging about 1 goal conceded to every 3-5 shots on target. nothing like what it seems to be in fm2008

FM has issues with some tactics, its a fact and SI have acknowledged they are looking at it.

Stop being so dismissive and defensive!

I dont see this problem in my game as my tactics obviously dont affect the match engine like it does for others but theres still clearly refinements needed.

No one is denying that teams win games when they have had less shots on goal. No one is denying that it doesn't happen in real life.

What people are disputing is the frequency it happens in FM08 and the extremity. Plus 19 shots to 5 is perfectly reasonable and is a huge difference to 40 odd shots on goal.

I'm fed up of these quite frankly ridiculous posts "it happened once in real life.... which means it's okay for it to happen all the time in fm.... stop whining blah blah"

The problem is as you highlight that people dnt like it because they dont win.

The fix for this wont please them as it should just reduce the amount of chances, not increase the goals scored.

The overall goals scored should really stay the same level.

anybody who watched the game yesterday knows how many 100% chances L'pool had....none, or maybe just one.

far better example would be Arsenal-Chelsea match. htere were some FM801 chances, not scored.

I'm now on 43 or 44 match unbeaten run with Barca ( i would like to take full credit for it but with that kind of players it's easy ), the problem in this game is that a realy good team can dominate the weaker opponent and in this domination create so many chances ( for me 25 - 30 SOG with about half SOT ) in almost every game. The problem is that it's a bit high , but even greater problem is when you look the match or highlights that players like Henry or even attacking midf. like ronaldinho , messi just do not miss chances like this ( a player infront of the goal with only GK in front of him - and the player is not running full sprint or has someone tackling him ). So that makes this brilliant game look a bit unrealistic. My solution would be to raise weaker player attributes by x percent and that would decrease amount of chances, and allow the players with high stats for scoring to do so.

Maybe if Liverpool played more "defensive" they would have scored... Or if they played more of a "slow" passing game, they would have not squandered their scoring opportunities.

What?! You mean to tell me that the FM match engine's in-game "solutions" are a joke compared to real-life football logic, and that in reality the opposite is actually true??!

Poor guy just does not read the forums do you bud! Its never was about the fact it can or cant happen it was always about the number of occurrences being off the scale a bit….. Trust me I don’t know your playing experience but I’ve been playing in a clan for over five years and yes there is a problem needing looked at and the fact that it is should be the end of it!!!!!! There is simply too many 40 shots on goal 20 odd on target with no goals with the other side having 4 shots on and winning 1-0 for an example…….
