Firstly, in the data editor each club has a set of tactical attributes. Some clubs have a full set of data (mostly top level ones), whilst others have nothing but zeros (mostly low level ones). What do they do, what is the point of them and could they be responsible for some of the match problems that we have experienced?
Secondly, as a casual gamer (played 05, 06, 07 and the demo of 08) I find FM alternately brilliant and frustrating. Brilliant for its depth, frustrating for its lack of help in understanding how to play it. Whilst the AI understands how to use the sliders and also understands the interaction between formation/tactics/sliders/players etc (the brilliant depth of the game), the gamer doesn't, not even after many months of play. (This is my opinion based on reading these forums).
What I feel FM needs is a helper. This is where the Assistant Manager could come in. For those of us who want a 'game' the AM ability could be ramped up to the top level to give us much needed help for our first full season after which he would retire from the game and leave us to our own devices. For those who want the 'football experience', the super AM can be ignored.
The Super AM can guide us in appointing coaches and giving them roles; understanding scout reports; evaluating youngsters; what tactics can do what; how to use the sliders etc. This AM would be for any new gamer who wanted the help and could give us all an insight into how the AI uses the game as well.
Have no idea about the fist point, but quite like the second. I don't think I'd use it, but it seems like a nice and more 'immersing' helper than the current advisor - or maybe as a complement to it.
