There are more established and experienced English players than there are Scottish, although there are a good bunch of Scottish young players coming through. Just look at Rangers and the amount of exciting young Scottish talent that is there.
I'm deadly serious. I attended all the home matches on the qualifiers as well as watching all away matches, I also watched every minute of England's qualifying matches. I don't think it would be an over-reaction to suggest that Scotland were the superior team in all aspects, so why wouldn't I choose more Scotland players?

I don't go with the "england are under-achieving" mantra. What exactly are England supposed to achieve? According to the majority of the English media the England team has under-achieved for 40 years.

When does over/under achieving become what is expected?

My request for equality is valid, whether or not it'll be taken with any grain of seriousness from SI is another question. </BLOCKQUOTE>

As much as i would love to say that scotlands 11 are superior to each of englands 11 i cant because i am an honest man...you can not judge two nations on one tournement...last year the same England team made it to the Quarter finals of the WORLD CUP i dont care what anyone says that is a massive achievment

The majority of the england players are better than the scottish players...look at my earlier post to see who i think would walk into the england squad

Looking at the latest Fifa world rankings, seeing England 12th and Scotland currently laying in 14th, shouldn't the CA's (and maybe the PA's) of the Scotland players be closer to the CA's of the England players?

Now, I don't want to get into a debate about this subject, about how ridiculous it sounds, because as far as I'm concerned this subject isn't ridiculous.

The facts are that Scotland is only a few good results from overtaking England.

How would SI react to things if Scotland were higher in the Fifa rankings as they were about to get down to making Football Manager 2009?
The FIFA rankings are a poor indication of the quality of any team, being so dependant on the quality of the fixtures they play. Would you have been asking the same question about redefining Scottish CAs at the end of the Vogts era when Scotland were ranked in the 50s or 60s and England in the top 8?
</BLOCKQUOTE>

I wouldn't have, but I wouldn't have complained if Scotland players were rated to reflect real life.

And you're being kind... we were actually in the 80's.

A team is only as good as their last tournament.

Yeah, I read your list, and I agree. I would add players like Fletcher (even if he does suffer a degree of derision from Man United fans) into the mix.

It's evident that England players are unable to gel together, so there's going to be a lot of arm-twisting before I would choose a bunch of them.

I'm afraid it's unlikely that Scottish players are going to be made better just because of one qualifying campaign.

I also watched every Scotland qualifying match and most of England's as well and I don't share your opinions.

Other possibilities lie in scott brown and McManus who would border line because beckham, joe cole , terry and ferdinand can be world class sometimes.

Alan hutton is simply outstanding, hence why sir alex ferguson is offering him a deal...barry ferguson in my opinion would replace frank lampard...Lampard being the most over rated player in the EPL (imo) and Gordon for all 3 of your goal keepers...

Just my personal opinion which i think is realistic enough
If I may be frank, you are being quite unrealistic with regard to your own opinion. Alan Hutton is a decent player, and perhaps he could force his way in at right back because we only have a very young and very old right back option available at England. But Barry Ferguson? Not only would I pick the malfunctioning partnership of Gerrard/Lampard over him, but i'd also gladly take either one of those and pair him with Barry, Hargreaves or even Carrick before I'd consider Ferguson.

Craig Gordon is a good goalkeeper, but Robert Green is better, and he hasn't been dropped by his manager this season. Or conceeded 7 goals in a game. Scott Brown would have to move hell and highwater to get ahead of Beckham, SWP, Bentley, Lennon and co on the right.

Ter is making a lot of sense. I was heartbroken when Scotland didn't qualify, I really thought they deserved it, much more than the England team, but England were mismanaged and each of their players play in a far superior and more demanding league.

nice touch with the snow falling on the SI logo. although, would be much happier if you guys spent all that extra time on the patch instead of cosmetic work on your company crest.
Extra time? 5 mins in my own time when I was messing around with some personal stuff.
