It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default crossing problems

Playing with Pompey - 2009/10 - 4-4-2 and really need some help with crossing from wide.

Wide players don't seem to be delivering.

Is it about more width? Forward furrows?

Any tactics or advise would be useful.

Thanks

Post your tactic or instructions.

Without looking into a crystal ball, we don't know how or why your wingers are not crossing.

Are you playing to narrow! is your passing on short....

ianson is right, but the problem is often with the skills of the wingers, and the settings. Your wingers need to be fast and skillful. Ideally they need to dominate over the full backs of the opposition.

If not try to play wider, quicker tempo and direct passing. This will give your wingers some more space. Slower wingers will benefit if you set them to cross from deep, skillful and creative wingers will benefit if you allow them more creative freedom.

same problem with me. I think its got to do with the conflicting instuctions of - Widith + Short Passing + Crossing. I have no proof. So its just an idea that came to my mind

If you playing at home, use width about 17, rwb ofte, fw, mixed and passing direct.

But that is playig with a target man to head! if you dont have that option, I play with my wingers without crossing and TTB often instead, as there is no point in getting crosses in. So that would be width again 17, RWB often, short or mised passing, no crossing, but plenty of TTB. The winger cuts inside then delivers the pass.

But i personally beleive, the individual instructions should be depended on the actual abilities of your player. Why play an often through ball on a midfielder whose passing is 5!

why play a midfielder whose passing is 5? you are right the instructions depend on players skills but also players you put in your squad depend on the role you want him to play.

If you want to have a winger that delivers TBs instead of crosses you might look for a player with more creativity and passing and may be not so much crossing pace and dribbling...
