It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Just to add to that I am very happy with my goalkeeper so far Green has played 27 games and had 15 clean sheets.

Green gets injured and it all goes pair shaped, Carrol must of made 4 mistakes in last 3 matches that have ended:

Liverpool A - 3-1
Reading A - 4-0
Man U H - 2-1

Lost the confidence now and only got Chelsea, liverpool and arsenal in next three games

Hi guys, hope you don't mind me having a go at this.

Allow me to introduce myself...

Profile

I was insterested in this challenge because I usually always manage the same team and thought it would make a nice change.

I decided to opt for a 4-3-3 formation similar to how big Sam set up his Bolton team last year (but with a bit more flair). My tactics are very similar to his in that I play with a lone taget man, one DMC to break down attacks, two midfielders that support the attack when possible, and two wingers/strikers on the flanks causing mayhem to the opponents, this is also similar to how Chelsea played in two years ago when they dominated the league.

My main aim is to cause mahem in the opponents defence of, my full backs will be crossing balls in from deep aimed at my target man, and the two further forward midfielders will be fighting to win that vital second ball. My targetman will win 90% of balls up to him so I can gamble with runs from midfield.

The DMC's job is to be in a good position to intercept attacks, he must have good pace and be good in the air, this is vital, the formation will not work otherwise IMO.

The targetman must have good heading ability and pace (if possible but not essential), if the targetman lacks pace then make sure the AMC has good pace and is on forward runs, I have Tevez in this role, I find he latches on to flick ons from my target man and gets many chances.

Another factor when creating this tactic was to keep clean sheets! I often prefer a 0-0 draw to a 2-1 win, strange but I pride myself on clean sheets!

Ok, here are the vital stats:-

tactic

Targetmanswz9.jpg]Team Instructions[/URL]

Left Winger/Striker

Right Winger/Striker

Results

As you can see my defence is not bad to say I lost my first game 3-0 to Wigan. This was a freak game, I had a man sent off, they scored from a penalty after 32 secs, then someone scored a 35yard screamer, and then they scored on the counter in the final mins. Other than this I have done ok, beat Man U 2-1 and Chelski 2-0 away from home. I am hoping I will start scoring a few more goals once my players gel as I am really dominating teams. The AI is having trouble coping with my three attackers (which I thought they might), this is due to their defence struggling to pick the three forwards up and my mid pressing high up the pitch and winning the 'second' balls. The pace of my defenders is also a key factor I feel.

I have set up training schedules to suit my tactic also & gave Tevez special training treatment, basically doing all I can to keep him happy as he can be a baby, so far he is happy!!

Transfers

I play Richards in the DMC role, he is amazing for me in this position.

(The board didn't provide me with extra funds unlike some which sucks! :thdn

I hope it's ok that I am giving this a go. I don't usually post on here but I have been a lurker for a few years, I guess I am a bit bored waiting for 08 so needed a challenge. I will update more after another 10 games or so. If anyone wants further info or discussion then fire away!

Right, I started this last night but only got to the end of pre-season. I thought I do a little update now anyway (in the hope of getting this promising thread back on track)

Firstly, I was very disappointed that the board refused to give me any more cash for transfers, so the £15m would have to do.
On a brighter note I did manage to get a work permit for Eddie Johnson so for the first time ever I'll have him in my team.

My other transfers of note so far are Anthony Vanden Borre for about £2.5m and Vincent Enyema for cheap. I've got a few other deals in the pipeline though so hopefully the squad will be strengthened more come the end of the transfer window.

I've sold Bowyer, Zamora and a couple of defenders to raise some extra cash.

So that's it so far, I won all my friendlies and kept clean sheets in I think all of them (I'm currently at work so can't check). I didn't score as many as I would have liked though and we seemed to have a little trouble breaking down very defensive teams.
I'll see how this pans out in the early premier league games though.

Fuss, don't abandon this thread. I'd like to see how my tactic and yours compare and I'm personally looking forward to see how I can do with The Hammers compared to everyone else.

I'll do a proper update with screenies tonight.

Wow Chopper, how did you manage to sell Zamora?.

I've offered him for nothing 3 seasons straight and i have never had a sniff of interest?.

Right this thread as now been cleaned up and we can get on with a proper dicussion about tactics again. Anyone who posts in this thread causing arguments, something that not about this challenge, saying the game cheats or accusing people of cheating will be given a warning instantly or a possible ban.

There will be no further warning, so no one is going to tell you again to keep this thread on topic. All the other stuff stops now.

If anyone causes trouble in this thread then hit the report button and a mod will come and deal with it.

Try and make sure this thread is tactic discussion and not too much based around the player aspect. A quick mention of the squad and who you brought in is more than enough.
